Dealer will make it right by handing you a paper towel.

I know, right? Some of the Millennials in management at work still do.

If it had been a steel skid it would’ve been easy rustproofing.

When you’ve completed your wiping, adjust your mustache and stare off into the sunset. It’s how I do it.

I don't see how some of you would be ok with your dealership leaving your truck like this after an oil change, I surely wouldn't. Team One and Sunny King Toyota here have been nothing but professional, courteous and very timely in my Toyota Care maintenance so far.

Maybe it's regional. I'm in Cali, like the OP, and two dealers have scratched and dented my truck so far.

In theory, you are correct. This is sloppy workmanship. However, you're going to die an early, miserable death worrying about such silly things in life... gotta learn to pick your battles.

This is one of those grey area issues, IMO. Now if a tech got oil stains on the inside of my car (seats, headliner), oil was leaking, or parts were missing/broken, that would be worth fighting for. On the bottom of the skid plate though (assuming no leak)? Eh. Not worth it.

no one is disputing the fact that it’s sloppy. It’s just that it’s not a huge deal. Like if you got a fast food burger and the lettuce was all cattywampus, hanging halfway out the bun. Fix it and carry on.

That happened to me at In-N-Out Burger one night recently. Soggy lettuce, cold bun that was like leather. I emailed 'em and they promptly postal mailed an apology with two vouchers for free meals. They also called me to apologize. Step up your game, Toyota! :D

Well, I guess OP has never needed his skid plate if he's crying about a bit of oil.

Sucks that they got the underside of the truck dirty with oil.

I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with my dealer. They put plastic over my seats, the person working on the vehicle never drives it. They have a person who’s clean that all he does is drive vehicles back and forth.

Service advisor has them park my truck against a wall off to the side so nothing gets damaged or scratched by someone. Works always performed neatly and correctly.

Service advisor accompanies my truck to the back and tells them not to “scratch anything and to be extra careful” as my trucks modified and has ceramic coating. I’m a pain in the ass however they accommodate me.

I just had that happen last week on my wife's car. We had the oil changed at the dealer the week before. Then I noticed oil stains on my driveway - six different locations where my wife had parked since the oil change. I took it back to them and they cleaned it up. They apologized and I moved on. Stuff happens. But if it happens again I will have a different attitude about it.
What upset me a little was that they told me there was nothing wrong. "Filter and drain plug are tight. It must be residual oil" Residual oil my ass. Enough residual oil to soak the whole insulation pad and cause 6 big oil stains on my driveway, and it was still dripping. Anyways; not worth a fight. I told the guy in a respectful way I don't believe that, gave him a handshake and thanked him for taking care of it.

Some people complain about bag fries.

“Why can’t they get all the fries in the fry sleeve?!”

I personally love bag fries. It’s one of life’s little gifts.

Yeah, my 10K mile “Toyota Care” oil change didn’t leave me with that warm fuzzy feeling either. This was the first time I have ever taken a vehicle anywhere to have it serviced, and this is how my vehicle is returned to me. I guess they were too busy to clean up their mess or they just didn’t give a damn. On top of that the tires were not rotated because I marked them. Never again will I take my vehicle to a dealership for something as minor as this. I definitely will not be going to this dealership for anything ever again and I drive by it every day. It’s not hard to change your oil with the skid plate mounted in place and not get oil on it. Saturday I did my 20K oil change and no oil was spilled on the skid plate when I removed the drain plug. OP, I hope you gave them hell as I did. 655205AC-6052-4970-BC49-570223078295.jpgE98EFA03-3C1A-45E7-9D4B-9AC728B080FE.jpg
