bahaha I just gotta pick at you. I know you're not the oldest, but possibly in the top 5.

 

Just wait until 40. At 30 you can easily say you still have over half your life left. At 40 that gets really questionable.

 

I always feel you're a lot older than me.. I guess it's the girls that make me think that. Then I realize I'm 27 and most of my friends are married with kids now.

I'm only 27 turning 28 this year and I'm still always questioning where I am, not in life, but in work environment.

I hope it's released this year, not that I'm going to be one of the first adapters, but I want to live vicariously through others.

 

Well, my mechanic called me and said it was a clutch pedal assembly that was bad on my 2nd gen. He's 76 years old and told me that he wasn't physically able to crawl under the dash to do the repair. I'm stuck at a loss at what to do now? He said it's not the clutch and it's not the clutch slave cylinder, but the pedal assembly itself. I guess I'm just gonna have to crawl under it and see if I can't repair it myself....

 

The clutch pedal assembly actually includes the master cylinder. And it is all quite a pain to get it out. Be prepared for lots of bruises and cuts on your hands.

Wait what!!!! you can't replace the master cycl separate from the pedal assembly. That's a stupid design.

 

The master fits so tight in there with the pedal, you have to remove all of it to get the master out. The pedal and brackets swap over, so no you don’t have to replace them, just disassemble it. My last comment was a bit misleading.

 

I was under the impression that the slave cylinder is what the clutch pedal pushes in and the clutch master cylinder is right next to the brake master cylinder in the engine bay.

 

Slave cycl. is the Piston that pushes the clutch fork. Think of it like this it's the slave to the master so when the master is pushing fluid it's doing work.

Thanks for the info Skip! Now I just have to diagnose the problem and see what needs to be fixed. That's the whole reason I dropped it off at the mechanic, so i didn't have to fool with it. Now it looks like I'm gonna have to fool with it, to get it fixed and drivable again. I was going to throw my Jerneyman sliders on my 2nd gen, but looks like they are going on my 3rd gen now.

 

Slave cylinder is bolted to the transmission. Master is what is depressed by the clutch pedal and in our case sits in the floor board, not engine bay. The only component in the engine bay is the fluid reservoir which in your case I believe is hooked in the brake fluid reservoir.

 

And if the master cycl is leaking keep an eye out you don't want the brake resi to run dry. A lot of cars do that for some stupid reason.
