Finally got around to putting some lights “upstairs” put them on a dimmer that is accessible from in bed and from down below if all the pads are stacked and put away.
I need to switch out the “downstairs” to the same color temp.

 

Any chance you could post the types of lights you installed? And if applicable, the controller you used as well? Thanks!

 

Lights are wired directly to the truck battery with an in-line fuse.

Looks good! Where did you mount the dimmer?

 

I can take a picture when I’m done with work. Definitely not a pretty setup... but it works.

Yeah. its just mounted on top of the fixed bed panel right on the edge.

I have the same one which I mounted to my dometic using the existing handle bolt holes on the fridge with a bit of aluminum flat bar and a couple longer bolts.

 

I hadn't considered mounting the paper towels to the Dometic Fridge. Today I just received my Slide/Tilt fridge slide. Always great to have options and new ideas.

 

Anyone consider carpeting the roof?

 

IMO one of the best things about the GFC is the beautiful diffused light transmitted through the white honeycomb roof. It would be a crime to cover it. It also is practical by lessening the need for lights in the daytime.

I’m just brainstorming ideas to battle condensation. I don’t really spend much time inside my camper during daylight.

I’ve been looking at this. It’s not a massive amount of airflow (only 17CFM) but is fully self contained and only hangs about 1.5” inside the roof. If you don’t live somewhere hot and need the cooling effect I think this would be enough airflow to keep moisture buildup to a minimum.

 

If the camper has a living space equal to the sleeping area, a Tacoma GFC camper has a living area that is roughly 50"W x 90"L x 48"H x .5 for the wedge or about 62.5 cu ft of volume.

A fan with a capacity of 350 CFM would provide ~5.6 complete air exchanges per minute which would absolutely be noticeable and likely uncomfortable. A fan with 17 CFM would provide about 16 complete air exchanges per hour which is equivalent to the value I'm seeing recommended for a public venue that allows smoking.

If there are too many air changes per hour your sleeping space will not reach a comfortable temperature. Condensation occurs when temps get too high compared to dew point or moisture from your breath exceeds ambient levels. You're going to want to pay more attention to the recommendation of pop-up camper people than RV types.

 

Where is my math off? 350 CFM in a 62.5 cu ft space is more that 300 air changes per hour which is well in excess of all recommended values on the table in your link.

 

Has anyone figured out some slick ways to route wiring on the exterior of the gfc? Or a way to pass wire for lights or back up camera into the interior?

Originally I thought I could find some t track cover that would fit and route wires through the tracks and cover them up.
