I saw them drinking this on the TV show Yellowstone with Kevin Costner last week. Thought I'd give it a try.

I have had that one and their Double Rye, both really good!

I need to pull the trigger and get some Campfire, as I have heard good things about it as well.

I thought about getting the Campfire. But a little afraid it might be smoky like a Peated Scotch.

yea, kinda why I haven't pulled the trigger either. My thought was to buy a bottle and have a glass at each new campsite we visit this year, fitting given the name

I tried Campfire once, it is definitely a unique blend and does have a bit of a peated scotch taste to it. It's not heavy, but for me I'd rather spend the $60-70 on something else (like Boureye which is amazing).

I'm a HUGE sucker for Campfire. It is smokey, but not really peaty. Unique blend, very viscous, very layered. I really dig the stuff.

**Disclaimer - Lot's of low hanging jokes in here...**

Last night I got to do a head to head with Michter's SiB Rye (henceforth known as Dickbutt) and Michter's Barrel Strength Rye (henceforth known as W.T.F.)

I really enjoyed the Dickbutt from the last bottle I had so was curious to this comparison.

On the nose: Wow what a difference. The Dickbutt smelled like I remember it. Oaky, sweet ish and a little burn. The W.T.F. was way more subdued. Caramel notes ran hand in hand with the oak. really smooth smell. was not expecting that from a barrel strength at all!

Color: The W.T.F was just a tad darker. little deeper color but not too much

Viscosity: Dickbutt was about average. not thick, not thin, just middle of the road. W.T.F. was almost syrupy. It coated the glass sides with streaks. Really coats the mouth.

The Dickbutt had more of that high proof heat to it which was odd as it is a lower proof bottle.

Taste: Not really close at all. Really hard to tell they were both Michter's Rye products. Even knowing that they were still vastly different whiskies. Both were really delicious with that oaky sweetness with varying fruits on the palate.

The viscosity of the the W.T.F made the taste linger a lot longer with a little back end heat.

I really enjoyed them both and they are so different to me that they both could have their place without stepping on each other's toes.

    Just my uninformed opinion anyway.

Have at all the jokes now

Also, the wife just looked at me and said "double fisting huh?" to which I responded "W.T.F.?! Dickbutt."

Nice review! I'm going to be doing the same Dickbutt vs W.T.F. head-to-head myself! Hopefully this evening.

I drank a handful of my ryes on Saturday night. I think I had: High West Double Rye - Gin cask finished, Old Forester Rye, Driftless Glenn Rye, and Sazerac Rye.

0F2D9F08-5896-452A-90E5-8D25384CCBED.jpg Today was fun, delivering a GTS to a friend and it fell out of my truck, cracking the neck. Yay. Luckily a local friend is trading me his unopened bottle for this one, since he’s opening his for sure.

Luckily it worked out in the end. I was just going to chalk it up as a loss and chug the bottle and move on.

    Yikes!

I had a bottle of Stranahan's once. It used to come with a little metal cap that measured 3 oz. Maybe it still does.

Anyways, I grabbed the bottle off the top shelf of my old cabinet and started to pull it away. I was holding by the metal cap that slid off and the bottle fell about 5 feet on to stained concrete. Remarkably, the bottle didn't have a single blemish. Didn't shatter, didn't crack, didn't look like it nearly met its demise.

The metal cap got thrown in a drawer and never went back on the bottle.
