Help quality checking my future house (new build)

@OZ-T I'm not sure if I am looking at the same place as you, but to me it appears that the builder is using wood web floor trusses between the first and second floors. If so, I imagine that the connectors you are seeing are the connector plates for the uprights on the end trusses. What I am looking at is similar to the lower truss in the picture below.


I've haven't seen wooden floor trusses used in residential for probably 25 years. If designed and installed correctly, they made for fast install of floor decking, water lines, dwv, and hvac.

Standing water is not a super big deal as long as the wood , especially any plywood gets a chance to dry

 

I have to agree with OZ-T; you should be okay. As a homeowner watching your new place being built, it is a bit worrysome to see all the water.

we have been getting a crap ton of rain lately, I hope they let it dry out enough when they start finishing it up. Does the vapor barrier they cover the wood with let moisture escape but not intrude?

Generally the WRB (weather resistant barrier / housewrap) is not a vapour barrier but is an air barrier . In a heating climate the vapour barrier / vapour retarder is usually placed on the warm in winter side of the insulation

 

Well I went by there again today and still a pool of water on the bottom floor. There was a push broom so I attempted to splash some of the water out. Not sure how much of a difference it made lol. Plus it is really muddy down there. They are going to need to use a shop vac to get the rest of it.

 

Working on more of the roof framing

 

Can't tell for sure, but looks like a second story deck/porch will be built? If so, pay attention to joist hangers, proper nails, connection to the structure, post size, etc. Several news blurbs recently in Columbus OH about second story deck collapses, connection failures. If you have a set of approved plans, everything will be detailed there. Must be built to the approved plans. Changes must be submitted/approved beforehand.

 

you are correct, a small balcony will be on some of the units. Let me see if I have any plans I can look up. I do know that the balcony basically hangs off, there are no posts underneath.

In the meantime here is the floor plan of my unit.

 

It may be cantilevered out from the building structure then. So no support problems generally associated with this type construction. Better for you.
This is just for your info then...
Basically ALL the holes in each and every hanger Must have an approved nail in it. No roofing nails, etc. I'm sure your inspector will scrutinize every connection, if there are any.
