Bilstein ONLY recommends the 600lb springs that come with the 6112's or 8112's or the 650 bilstein springs that will fit on the 6112's or 8112's. The 700lbs eibach springs that are sold by aftermarket websites are NOT recommended and will highly increase the likelihood of premature shock failure and a voided warranty from bilstein.

So it says/ Update: as of 04/19, so Bilstein listened to.the masses and made their own springs to accommodate?? As to where this post is way beyond 04/19, and I specifically got the Billy 700 spring.

I dont know bro, if that email aint from bilstein i dont trust it. I read on this forum about a guy who purchased 6112's with the 700lb spring upgrade from wheelers and had WAY too much lift approximately 5-6 inches or so. The 700 lb spring was not a bilstein brand spring.

Well, my springs are from 4WP under specific Billy brand. He said to drop the clip to 1st or 2nd notch tho.. I think it'll work??

Hey, so I went with the 1/2 clip setting, still running the 700 springs and have had no problems at all. Gave me about 2 inches lift in front with a ARB Bumper and winch. And to answer the other post about the guy having way to much lift with the 700s, that was me also. That was because I had the 6112s set at the highest setting 6/6 or 5/5, whichever ones the highest for the 6112s. But taking some of the preload off fixed all that. I've taken them offroad quite a bit and it rides excellent! Better than my friends 2019 Rubicon with stock suspension. But the other posts are correct, Bilstien does NOT recommend running the 700# springs with the 6112s. That info I got directly from Bilstien, I didn't know that until after I bought the 6112s with the 700# springs from wheelers offroad. And it more than likely voids any warranty from Bilstien, I'm not sure about that but I would bet that it does.

Bilstein did not listen to the masses and they do not make a 700lb spring for the 6112. This is another offroad website (NOT BILSTEIN) coming up with their own combo using an eibach 700 lb spring. The reason I personally went with the bilstein 6112 is due to not only the 60mm shock or its adjustability, but its lifetime warranty. A 700 lb spring will completely void any warranty immediately and most certainly ruin the shock in a shortened amount of time.

FWIW, the normal spring that comes with the 6112 is 600#. From their web site note that they offer something called a B12 Special spring for the 6112 (and 8112) for 80-140 lbs. of additional front end weight. Translation: a spring >600#, although they do not specify its rating. https://cart.bilsteinus.com/results...id=4520050431512085316&Dr=4351738904601333697

No experience yet with your combo but a stiffer spring should help with the body roll over stock springs since you pulled the sway bar but never going to be the same.

Ideally a stiffer shock is need to control the added weight transfer forces, so curious as to the feedback you get. I am not sure your clip position will have much impact on body roll- in my minds eye the higher clip position adds preload that the inside spring will want expand from in a corner...but Your equally preloaded on the outside. I wonder though if the spring coming out of preload May have more force than the side that is already under preload has, in that way amplify body roll? I don’t know if am articulating that idea well.

You are correct sir. That is the 650lb spring. It is the B12 53-291387. It is made by bilstein made for the 6112/8112 shocks. They don't have the specs on their website anymore but they did about 2 months ago. The 700lb spring that some people do upgrade to is not made by bilstein but by eibach.

Thank you. I have tried to get basic information before from Bilstein and they have flatly refused to answer any questions.

So the response I got from them was to send them the part # that was ordered, and I just did. # 53-291387 (B12 SPECIAL) Not sure if that is a proper designation, but added it anyway. Hence, I'm awaiting again for the reply. I'll keep y'all posted.....

So Bilstein part # 53-291387 is for the 6112 and is the 80-140 HD coil that will work; as mentioned in previous kit. After calling Bilstein and asking, because emailing just sucked booty, this spring is the 650lb spring, and not the 700 the idiot at 4WP told me it was. So anywho, should I drop a few notches when I get these spring gas since I lack bumper, winch, lights, and mounts, (lol)??? 2nd or 3rd will sound adequate. Any suggestions??

There is unfortunately no way to tell until after you put in the springs, install them on truck and let them settle to see what notch will be best. It will depend on each specific application due to the amount of weight that your truck has in the front. Each notch is going to represent about 1/2". Personally, if you don't have any weight at all yet, I would start by measuring the length from the center of the hub to the fender first before you put the shocks on, then start on the 2nd notch and install them due the lack of weight. Drive for 5 miles for a slight settle and measure again. Then go either up or down from there depending upon the height you like, the angle of the front cv axle, and then how much it settles after about 2 weeks. The more weight you add, then you may need to take back out and go up a notch or 2.

crashniggles; yeah, that's the direction I'm unfortunately going to have to take. Oh well, all in the name of modification, right. Thanks to all who have posted. Again, the Billy's 53-291387 are the 650lb. HD springs by Bilstein. There are no 700 by Billy for these 6112's. Unless of course, someone comes up with something else?? Lol!!! I'll post what notch I go with, ride height, and pics once they come in and get installed.. Thanks again fellow Taconians!!!

I am now at the fourth notch. Since I have installed my streamline bumper and skids plate trio, I went down 1/2". I am planning on sliders and a winch so I am going to keep mine on the 4th notch and see where I am afterwards. My new springs come by ups on Tuesday :) I will do the same and keep people updated.

This is a FYI for everyone that has 6112's. I just received the new 650lb Bilstein springs to get installed in my 6112's. This answers the question of the 650 vs 700lb debate.
