Wouldnt it make sense to constantly run open loop in that case then?

Seems like it wouldnt be as efficient if it used load tables for fueling all the time. My guess is thats why closed loop is used so it can dial it in more under varying driving situations. I dont know much about tuning, but just thinking things through it seems like it would be hard to have a load table for all driving situations

Again, im not saying this is right, it is just what seems to make sense in my mind. Would be interested to know why open loop is used now. Maybe the great minds in here can chime in on that:popcorn:

From everything I am reading here, I think I have to get the hptuner. I was gonna try and stay with ovtune, but man I haven’t heard a single bad thing about hp, and they keep adding new stuff. Now ovtune is making a turbo AND supercharger for the 3.5. It’s going to be a rotrex so lol on that, may as well just do the turbo.

You can adjust open loop to be to just as efficient.

But i could be wrong :cookiemonster:

Edit: i was wrong, ha! I think at the point you guys are at though it might be necessary to do open loop tuning and dial in with a wideband

"Defining Open Loop and Closed Loop o2
Open loop is when the ECU is not referring to the o2 sensor for feedback. Meaning that the o2 sensor might as well not be there, because the ECU is not using it to modify its timing and fuel maps. If your asking yourself why the ECU would ever want to do this? It is because there are times when you want the motor to run a set amount of timing and fuel, no matter what the conditions. For reference, most OEM cars are tuned to run closed loop o2 on partial throttle driving to get the best gas mileage, and then run open loop on wide open throttle (WOT) to be sure the motor runs the safest it can, and that the factory fuel map is not modified in any way. Closed loop is when the ECU does refer to the o2 sensor for feedback. Using the o2 sensor the ECU will modify its fuel table based on the readings the o2 sensor is seeing. This is important in maintaining a perfect A/F ratio as there are so many variables affecting the tune of a motor at any given time. For example, air temperature, altitude, humidity, and so on."

This is some excellent info right here. I had a feeling boosted fueling had something to do related to the MAF setup this whole time, but since I am a bit less tuner than mechanical saavy I never did want to put my foot in my mouth.

I may actually wind up in this round of the group buy. I'm not sure yet.

Oh now things will get interesting! Looks like URD has a bunch of Rotrex options on his website too for 2016+, have those been going into 3rd gens yet?

I think I've found a way around this, and could get fueling in via a load base means..

Need someone to test for me.

Damn, finding testers is hard.. :p

Ok.. I need a simple log to start.

From a steady state cruise (any speed for now), slowly but progressively get into the throttle and build boost ultimately getting into PE. Single gear pull is fine.

Make note in your head at what point you would like to see enrichment. Send me an email with the log and I'll work some magic and send you back a new calibration file to test/report back.

What platform are y’all running hptuners on? PC or MAC? Any preference? Or perhaps I should ask what @JustDSM is running.... and what format his magic files come in...

Why yes, yes I am. I don't floor it everywhere I go. Matter of fact I am admitting right now that yesterday I drove like a senior citizen for over 60 miles. Isn't that weird?! :D

I believe PC is the software of choice, Mac can run it on Bootcamp for sure too. The files come in .log (you to him) and .hpt formats (him back to you).
