What has been the final answer on running 255/80/17 or 255/85/16 on SCS (or other 8.5" wheels) wheels?

Seems like someone posts a picture of them running them, and then someone else comments about "being careful regarding max width specs" and then that's it.

So, has anyone had any issues? Aired down?

The KO2 in 255/75R17 is conspicuously absent from this 95 page thread. What's up with that?

    Now its not. haha

Looks like a good size for a mild lift on a 2nd gen. Probably go on a 3rd gen without a lift.

And they shall. Got a set in the shop out there and the mild lift to install, just need to wire my shop lift and it begins. Wanted to see some pics first. Always researching.

I've run 255s on 8.5" SCS wheels for many thousands of miles, on and off road with zero issues or complaints. Admittedly I never aired them down dramatically.

Got a set of Continental Terrain Contact A/T 255/75/17s (non-LT) about ~4k back. Not any super serious off road use (airing way down) or deep mud but played around in the deserts (Dewey Bridge area (UT), and others) and mountains a fair amount. Tire has been great overall (snow, sand, mud, pavement) and is, as quiet, or quieter than the highway tires that came stock. Handles well overall and as tested, (Tire Rack?) really do stop well on wet pavement. FYI they fit stock (didn't test articulation much) and are all good after ~2" lift.
