It's just been posted before, a bunch. Kinda illuminates the echo-chamber phenomenon that's present on the internet. Interesting to see, actually.

Guy said he hit a bump while towing a 2100lb trailer, GM denied warranty because he didn’t have trailer brakes since it was 100lbs over the limit for not needing them. Most likely the guy jumped the truck and tried to make up a story to get it fixed under warranty.

Saw this a couple of days ago. Apparently the owner was pulling a trailer near, but not over the towing capacity of the truck, went over a bump, and bent the frame. GM rep looked at it, weighed the trailer, took lots of notes, bumped it up the corporate chain, and owner was denied a warranty claim, due to over sized tires.

That's the story: 1 inch oversized tires and a trailer (with no brakes)t was 100 pounds over recommended threshold for trailer brakes.

There is no picture of the bump, nor mention of Nevada (where the truck appears to be played) law on trailer brakes, which I believe is 1500 pounds.

Surprised he didn't hydro lock the motor from the oil starvation.

I may have saw something about 2900. Either way, the truck should pull 5000. What it will take bumps with, and what speed you can hit those with, is something that manufacturers don't list, because there is no way to tell where this guy jumped his truck, and how fast he was going. So he's going to BS. This is how it works:

-Guy breaks truck. Guy realizes situation. Truck is new. Guy develops false belief that a new truck should withstand abuse.
-Guy seeks relief from manufacturer(s). Guy is told to pack sand. Politely.
-Guy develops story to claim the vendor is in the wrong.
-Bunch of Magnusson Moss statements on forum / ham radio / CB / VFW / Moose lodge depending upon Guy's demographic.
-The truth rarely comes out, because if Guy is lying, he's the only one holding and sharing the info. Mfr is not a child and will not play these stupid games.
-Sometimes there are witnesses to just before the rear axle came out from under the truck, who made suggestions before the FJ hooked up and tore things to hell.

I really do like to see things like this. I've worked with some crazy people. One guy claimed when he was in the navy, they had to station a guy on the conning tower of the sub with a rifle when they were in port, and that he shot a diver that was trying to attack the sub. Another guy claimed there were hollow mountains in Norway with huge fuel tank farms in case of war. Beer is proof that everybody is full of shit if you get them to drink enough of it. One guy (this wasn't lying or anything, but is entertaining to tell) hooked up with a lady he worked with during lunch break, and apparently in the excitement that followed, told his wife he wanted a divorce. Next night at work, he told Ms. Hookup of the divorce announcement, who explained that this wasn't serious, just something to do at work during lunch. So he went home and burned his house down. Then one guy who worked for the phone company kept telling stories about underground cable plants operated by the NSA where they listen to all your phone calls, and everybody has a pistol on their hip. Another guy (pro Chevy half ton, he's been driving them for 20+ years, buys a new one every 2 years) told me a story about his truck, was driving on wet pavement coming in to a stoplight intersection. Stoplight went real fast yellow-then red. Seeing the yellow, he nails the gas. Now it's difficult to tell what happened, which I'm sure is due to all the vehicles flying around and not the bullshit stories woven in, but something happened in the truck and the throttle hung wide open; the traction control freaked out and caused the truck to slide sideways, clipping a car that was either stopped or, having right of way, entering the intersection (maybe it was both?). After the intersection it skidded thru a fence and into a field. He lawyered up and contacted GM who said they would be happy to investigate this if he would pay a $4K retainer (if story is remotely true, he could afford this) for the investigation. He told me his lawyer said "Look, they know they have something wrong with their truck... At this point I have truly stopped listening and focus on some bratwurst or sausage and potatoes that were just terrific. Next thing I know, he's talking about a really good buy on a worn out work truck. Worst part was the restaurant burned down a few weeks later.

Is there a thread where bullshit stories get relocated to?
