Your avatar (I think it's Jeff) always reminds me it's probably time to do more mandatory training courses.

Love the wheels I have a couple of sets of them. Right now I am running 255/80/17's and they do fine with the gearing how does this size feel? Do they make you feel you need a regear?

I see a lot of 255's on this thread; not many run 235's huh?

    Wondering if I should've gone with 255's vs the 235/85/16 Falken A/T3W's I've got.

I have 235/85/16’s, they are great with stock gearing and look awesome on 1st gens.

My Cooper 255's have taken me many places in many conditions and never let me down. They perform great and at 45k+ miles still have a lot of tread left I believe 17/32.

Go for the skinnies. I put 265/75/16 ko2s on my truck a week after I brought it home and they're already being swapped out at 27k

Definitely love the look; just need to find 3rd gen 4runner wheels and paint them white :anonymous:

Thanks yeah I am leaning that way hopefully get them this week. They have been a tough tire to find where I am probably going to have to order online and get mounted. Thanks again.

I finally took the plunge into skinny tire life! I'm really liking the duratracs so far! I'm running 255/75/17 Goodyear Duratracs on stock sport wheels with 1.25" Spidertrax spacers. No rubbing issues yet. No lift but will probably do a level soon.

Before lift - no difference if not a little better mpg. After lift - have not compared to other tires so I don't know if the "skinny's" help/hinder. Getting 18-19 mpg currently.

Side Note: With the tires, the mpg avg number is probably off by a little (lower than actual) due to my assumption that the computer is programmed for stock wheels/tire combo(s)?. Also wouldn't the speedo be off (truck going a bit faster than speedo is indicating)?

Yep, that’s correct.....the true MPGs will be lower and the true MPH higher, both proportionally to the change in tire diameter. So it looks worse on the screen than it is

If you’re ever passing through the SLC, you can have them. They need to be repainted, though.

Great post! I'm considering doing the same, but on the stock 2nd gen OR wheels. Do you think the fit would be similar? I'm trying to get an idea of how plausible it would be.

These Courser CXTs are more aggressive than they seem in pictures. Should be pretty good offroad and hopefully not too bad on road. Pictured next to 265/75r16 ko2s.

Edit. Not sure why the picture keeps uploading sideways.

    Thank you!

I don’t see why not, but what size are the Offroad rims?

I think I was pretty much maxing out the 255 tire with a 16x8 rim.

    They're 16x7, +30 offset with 4.5in backspace.

I actually think 16x7 is the perfect size for 255/85! Don’t quote me on it.i know above 8’’ wide is definitely not recommended.

There’s a thread somewhere I wish I knew that has all the answers
