I see mention about disabling windows defender? Is that still current info?

My windows laptop is a work-issued beast. I may be able to disable windows defender, but I definitely won't be able to disable some of the other anti-virus, monitoring software that is running.

Why is this even an issue? Does anyone know the technical reason that the Toyota flash manager software gets flagged?

Flash manager does not get flagged, only the flash utility does, because it has protected code that is unscannable.

We do NOT recommend installing our software on work computers.

I was thinking Toyota tuned it too lean for fuel economy and emissions. They tried to balance it with the trans shift points. It works with lighter vehicles or large v8s.

I flashed my truck last night after work, super simple to do. I have 46,606 miles on the factory tune... A quick 5 minute drive and the difference was immediate. I am running 93 base. The throttle response is sooooooooo much different and my shifts are smoother. I can rev match and double clutch and the truck no longer bucks and jerks. It gets to speed smoothly and quickly and is a lot more joyful to drive especially at lower rpms. I'm going to tow my boat today and see how it does.

Did you ever get this installed? I have been teetering on trying it.

Yes, I did. I have 2,000 miles on the 1.05 91 base tune. So far I'm happy with it and feel it is worth the money.

It's worth noting that I didn't purchase the tune expecting or even hoping for magnificent power gains. I think much of the back and forth on here about the tune is partially due to improperly set expectations. Having tuned many cars both forced induction and NA, I didn't expect anything significant in terms of performance. I bought the tune specifically for an improvement in the shifting logic. Anything beyond that was gravy.

Driving all over CO in the last 2k miles, with varying grades and elevation changes has been (IMO) a solid baseline for the tune. And I can say that it's an improvement all around. The shifting is better, not perfect by any stretch, but it is better. There are certain grades where it still downshifts when I'd rather it not (I70 east just before the Eisenhower tunnel), but again I wasn't expecting the tune to solve for every scenario. In respect to power, I can't say that there are any huge hp/tq gains, but the entire power band does feel better. Improved throttle response, power -feels- like it comes on earlier in the band. It simply makes for a better daily driver.

I do think 2.0 will even further improve the shifting logic based on statements made by OVTune in their thread. Needless to say we won't know until that's released if it will eliminate the need (err desire) for a re-gear.

Well I have a regear to 5.29s coming in July so the OVTune would be a bonus on top of that. I am still thinking very hard about adding this tune. I just have to convince myself that I dont need to spend that money on something silly like bills.
