Northern Virginia Roll Call

Anybody every have issues with their master cylinder? Trying to diagnose my brake issue and I'm lost.

Symptoms:
Brake pedal mushy (has been bleed multiple times)
Air sound when pedal pressed
Goes all the way to the floor slowly when pressed

I'm not leaking fluid visibly and my reservoir isn't emptying. Anyone have any thoughts?

 

Any different when truck is running?

 

Not at all.

 

More than likely the master cylinder. Internal seals are leaking. That's my two pennies.

 

Mine did that because air became trapped in the ABS unit. Only way to get it out is a shop with techstream or something similar. They can activate it and bleed it. Pedal has been good ever since.

 

That's an answer I like better. anybody know of a shop near Herndon that can do it that they trust?

Hello folks. It's been a long time since I've been on here. Are there any recommended folks to hit up to install some new brake rotors/pads?

 

I did mine today. I'm close by in Herndon if you wanna do them quick at my place.

Did you have the problem before or after you tried bleeding them? If you had the issue after you bled them, it's probably air in the ABS system. I had the same issue. Nothing I did would make the pedal right. I even had a scanner that would cycle the ABS pump and still no joy. I finally had to go to the dealer to get them to bleed it. If you bled the brakes trying to correct the problem I would say master cylinder.

 

Any of you guys in or know anyone in the Roanoke area!? I am trying to make my way down there to pick up some furniture from someone in Rocky Mount VA, and could possibly need some assistance loading on a trailer. The furniture has to be moved by Friday afternoon, and I already have a busy week, but it's a good deal on something I've been needing for a long time.
I will most likely be able to bring ramps and the furniture is on wheels. I just don't want to make the 4 hr drive and not have enough muscle when I get there, and don't want to depend on the seller.

 

One more check before I end up at the dealer:

Anyone have a shop around Herndon that they trust to do brake work; bleed brakes and abs, adjust rears and ebrake, that doesn't charge an arm and a leg? My last effort before I replace my master cylinder.

How about High -Tech ? They are pricey , but really no worse than the dealer.

 

What step are you at right now? What have you done? Dealer is your best bet for the bleeding. They charged me $160 roundabouts. I can do the rest no problem. We could try the bleeding and maybe have more luck with your truck then mine. Even if it's the master cylinder I can still do it. It's all up to you.

Given what you've said I still think it's the master cylinder.
