Ughhh yesss, i have a midland mx275 i think?

The weather works great on it, but as soon as i switch to the CB channels, it doesnt play nice. Tried switching my firestik back on (which i can confirm has worked in the past) and the same thing. I am thinking it's a grounding issue. All started when swapping antennas

 

I thought you had two radios as well, the gmrs one and cb...?

 

Yep, neither of them work now.. which has also led me to grounding/wiring issue

 

Hmm that’s strange, I thought it was just the cb that was having issues

 

Its only the cb channels. Not sure why though

 

How are both connected to power n ground?

 

Both use the dc outlet for power, and they both use the same antenna which is grounded at the bracket on my hood. If i was to guess, id say the bracket is a little loose or has developed some rust around the hole..

 

I'd not run them both with the same antenna until you can sort them out.

 

Good call, i will try to stick with separate antennas to isolate whats going on.

 

Should be separate antennas, and really separate power inputs.

Agreed, how are connecting two radios into one antenna

 

Theres only ever one plugged in at a time to the dc outlet.. and the same goes for the antenna.. unplug one and plug in the other.. in other words its a single antenna that i use for both but plug it in depending what i wanna use

 

Hmmm still makes no sense to me, the cb utilizes like a rg58 type coax and the gmrs is a really small lead, didn’t your gmrs come with a magnetic mount and antenna cable?
