Thanks! Ive seen posts where people say they use 10 12oz cans and barely have enough, but I'm assuming they must've put several coats on it. I was thinking picking up 10 cans then thought well maybe I should get 15, but who knows lol. The more I read the more I think I should do to get it perfect, but then I have to tell myself that I don't need it perfect this time around.

Buddy at work was supposed to help me paint it and my whole truck since he's painted vehicles before and has all the equipment, but he quit a couple weeks ago and now won't talk to me

yeah some people use it way more liberally than I do but I'm certainly not a pro when it comes to painting, maybe get 5 and go from there? If you have some left over then you can use it for touch ups, if you need more then shouldn't be too hard to come by. At least out here our auto parts stores usually carry quite a few of those Dupli Color brand paint cans.

Yeah I'm thinking of getting maybe 6-8 since I'll be ordering online. Local stores carry it, but its about $3-5 more per can. If I have too much my tailgate could use a coat, or bed, or hood, or doors .... maybe I'll just paint the whole stinkin truck with it

Why not buy a cheap spray gun kit and automotive paint?

If I had to do it again I'd probably go this route, the paint itself actually went on really nicely with the spray can when I did my fender but the clear coat went on like shit, all spotty and what not.

I'm trying to stay as cheap as possible this time around. Looking like for several cans of paint, a couple primer and clear, I should still be well under $200. I do need to check into a HF cheapo gun and see what paint and clear would run. But at the same time I'd have to get a filter for the air supply here at work since its full of crap and stopped up my air impact the other day, then a regulator.

Guess I need to weigh out all the options. Maybe end up selling the stupid camper top and not worry about painting it at all lol

I'm back to bronze, and digging it. Was a lot of prep work to get these puppies painted, but as with any paint job, that prep is worth it in the end.

Very impressed with Dupli-Color Wheel Coating - goes on nice, great sprayer tip on the can. All around so much better than what I generally get from Rustoleum.

the whole process, story, and too many photos

Ordered it from Wholesale Import Parts online and I recall it costing about 650 or so. I checked around locally for shops who would rebuild my OEM drive shaft with Spicer joints and it was cheaper just to buy new. It came balanced and it drives great! Would definitely recommend.

For most people it's probably not worth the expense... just replace a joint if it goes bad. This truck is my daily driver for work and my only vehicle, so I need it to be reliable and I'll pay extra for the peace of mind. My mindset is, if I'm in there and would have to disassemble the drive shaft to replace the carrier bearing, it's just better to replace the whole thing so I don't have to fuss with it again.

I owned a 2004 Xtracab Prerunner 2.7L auto for 8 months, tracking every tank. I now own a 2003 Xtracab 4x4 3.4L auto and I've tracked every tank since I bought it last October.

I'm not using any multipliers but I'm not aware of any I should be using.

Found a tan center console a little ways away through car-part.com. Called to make sure the salvage place had it and told them I was on the way. For $80 I got a disgusting console, but with no physical damage.IMG_20190625_145919291.jpg I was advised by the yard manager to use Tuff Stuff cleaner on it. That stuff is awesome, like brakleen but for your interior. Just spray it on and let it foam up, then agitate with a brush and wipe off. IMG_20190625_152618172_HDR.jpg
Now I have a perfect condition console, all clean. Just need some new cupholder tabs.IMG_20190625_180612591.jpg
Since it was a salvage yard, and not self serve, they forgot to get me the bracket that connects it to the tranny tunnel. I figured it wouldn't be worth the 70 mile round trip to go and get it, so I ordered one for $27 shipped from McGeorge Toyota.
