So i have had my satoshi grill for a while now. I tried paiting it my self with the rattle can color match but was never satisfied with the out come. It didnt quiet match my truck and didnt have the shine or luster. I picked up my grill from the paint shop on friday and here are some pictures of it. I will take pictures tomrrow of it on the truck.

I made mine, i bought the grill from a auto body supplier so i wouldn't hack up my factory grill. But as far as painting i tried and it sucked.. thats why i payed to have it painted.

How did they match the color to your truck?

I have 05, silver... and I wanted to get rid of the chrome also... was debating between black or color matched silver...

    ^^^^^

Thats where I was leaning. Thought if I turned the chrome black, that would be too much.
Do you know what color I can tell a painter to make it and match it?

That Looks great & what I did with my Impulse Red Pearl.
Took the surround off & they colored chip'd against my truck for the same price.

No I bought a base model non chrome grill from a member here & dremel'd off the 32 little tabs in the back. There was a thread here that showed how to that. To reattach it said to use a sodering gun to re-melt the tabs, so that is what I did.

I do not know what the OP did maybe he painted a chrome one.

It worked great since the Impulse Red wasn't available that way at all from Toyota :notsure:

Here is the thread I used as my DIY only I kept mine like 2gtacomas, no mod to the inside. Its on the first page http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/40770-grille-writeup-no-bondo-glass-required.html
Maybe the OP has some pics of how he did his?
I used a black cutting wheel on my dremel, the re-inforced kind & patience is key getting the surround to snap back on.
You gotta work it over some of the tabs but it does go back on just like it was.
I am interested in what 2gtacomas input on that is as well & what he used on the back.
