15,000 mile service

So I have a little under 20k on my '06 Tacoma. I went in for an oil change this morning and they said I was due for my 15k mile service. I told him just do the oil change.

I'm curious though...do you guys have the service done or do you wait for the 50k service? I believe what they said was included in the service was: rotate tires, check brakes, replace air filter. I can do the tires myself and my nephew can check the brakes. Is there anything else that should be checked/done?

Thanks. Oh...and btw...the dealer got oil on the front of the truck...again! Last time it dripped on the interior...luckily it all came out.

 

Get an AFE Pro Dry Filter, you will not have to worry about it except cleaning it yourself. Keep the stock one as a back up. Autoanything is having a sale and I think is a 10% off coupon somewhere here? Anywho, it is a good investment. I got one for my 4.0L here on a Group Buy. Lots of folks here use them.

I don't let the dealer even change the oil anymore, the guys here convinced me I could do it myself, its easy. Now I run Mobil 1 and bought a case of OEM filters online.

That's a Good Price, I got mine online for $37.00 shipped out of Nashua, NH. The deal was 2.99 a filter plus shipping. Had em the next day since I'm right next door. Toyotapartsdelivered is the website fwiw.

For the OP, as said, its by far the easiest DIY, plus I know the filter has been changed and stuff tightened back up & no oil smudges!

 

Valvoline synthetic or mobil 1 with a bosch filter. 30 or so at autozone

 

Napa filters are good, The Napa Gold is a Wix. Check out what our filter also fits. This is the filter 1348, according to Napa's application guide.

the best oil filter is the best one that came out of the assembly line part # 90915 20004,
if you can compare it... the 90915 yffd3 is such a shit filter... I kid u not!!! you can still get that filter online.. but like $15 a oil filter!! Now that's a filter, not that one made in thailland with paper, the orignal is made with synethic fibers! awesome!

 

Thanks! Actually I used to change my own oil all the time years ago. I figured with what they charge for an oil change, it was worth having them do it. But now after seeing what I've been thru with the dealers, I may go back to doing it myself.

I'm going to rotate the tires in the next week or so and probably change the air filter. I was just wondering if there was anything else that needed to be done/changed after 20k miles.
