Got this finished up yesterday. On to the cams. When the sky stops falling down. (First picture for orientation reference.)

What is the expanded section? Slip joint?

 

Endless pie. Mmmm.


Double slip joint. Clamp-less slip seal. What I had before, was an out of time make it happen slip joint. It leaked exhaust and through off the idle AFR's. All fixed up now.

 

It's started, and then it's stopped. Blasted rain.




#0000001 Intake manifold spacer.

 

You’re gonna mess around and get me to order a spacer, I figured it wouldn’t help in my quest but now I’m not so sure.

 

Cam gears or cams, and HP Tuner first. Spacer later. Priorities man!!!

 

HP already working, cam gears should be in the truck weds evening. URD headers on, waiting on Y-pipe lol.

 

I actually made one for @Lucario Runner . He purchased a used intake manifold. I cut the bottom off, then carefully sanded it on my belt sander. Voila! Uses the OEM gasket and reduces heat saturation from the lower (aluminum) plenum.

 

Ha! Great minds think alike. I was looking at the factory intake wondering if I could pull off that exact thing. I probably won’t stay NA long once I reach the top so that may be the way to go.

 

Got the driver side cams off today. Was a little tedious but easier than anticipated. Aligned the intake links, pulled the tensioner, and easy to pull out. Having a buddy and his extra hands to hold the chain while I moved things around made it a lot easier.

 

I have to pull out my spare heads and swap out the buckets to find the proper lash, then onto the other intake cam. Those first, then the exhaust.

 

So how much boost you pushing on that 9180? I'm running dual 7163's for mine

 

I like! Before the recent teardown it was at 16 or 17 PSI. I feel like a better or stronger intake manifold will be needed to go higher.

 

Man! That thing must have been scootin! I'm sure youre going to fabricate something much nicer than the OEM unit

Are you going to do Port injection and Direct Injection? Great way to gain a lot of fuel

 

Once a while ago, tried to get a CNC'd one made. Fell through. Design is still fresh in my mind.

Running 1300cc Injector Dynamics injectors. Pleeeenty of fuel for now from the ports.

 

Nice With those injectors you'll have fuel for days! I'm running twin walbros in the tank with a +35% HPFP with a HPFP cam which should give me an extra 25% in fueling.

I'm assuming that motor doesnt have a HPFP right?

I gotta start digging through this thread to find the good stuff
