Biggest complaint with coming from the east coast was the lack of active members, mod days, people to wheel with, etc. so I’ll definitely be following all the NorCal threads.

Edit: need to install that snorkel in the box...

 

You definately wont have a hard time finding stuff going on here.

I think NorCal / BayArea is pretty much the mecca of TacomaWorld activity.

There are also first come first serve campsites all around Stan Nat Forest some with vault toilets, some with fresh water, tables etc. I prefer the dispersed camping most of the time.

 

I agree. Dispersed is usually better.

How busy is that area on weekends? As in how risky is it to drive there on a Friday evening hoping to land a spot? I suppose worst case there’s always a Walmart parking lot.

I’ve always been lucky my whole life in Utah and being able to find a spot when I can’t reserve. Over here it seems like you can do anything without reserving forever in advance.

You'll find a spot going up on a Friday may be 2nd or 3rd choice, but even 9th or 10th choice in SNF isn't that bad. The actual campgrounds may fill up, but you'll always find dispersed camping somewhere.

I go to SNF frequently. Day trips and/or overnight. You should come out with us on a day trip.

I would make a 4Runner joke here, but it seems like that’s been covered. Take out the dogs, miss an opportunity to make fun of a 4Runner. Learned my lesson there.
