This is a massive thread, so I'm sure it's been answered many times, but....

Has anyone compared their experiences with 255/85 vs 265/75? I'm about to buy some new tires and can't decide.

Yeah, I have a feeling if I dump the exhaust like yours I may be able to squeeze it in. But I do not feel like chopping it with a sawzall in my driveway just yet. lol

I came from a 265/75. You gain a little more height but road manners are worse. Offroad traction is better if you air down a lot. MPGs take another hit. MPH and MPG will read lower due to taller tire. Acceleration and braking impacted as well. (Since tire weight went from 43 to 55 lbs a corner.)

    They look cool af though.

I have been driving on the 255/85 (KM2s) since Saturday. In comparison to the stock tires they seem kinda quick to turn, almost agile feeling. I would guess due to how skinny they are. The traction is lower on street, but that is to be expected. The tires are louder; and I can feel the nobs hitting the ground as the tire rolls, in the steering wheel. I honestly cannot feel any power loss due to the larger tires, but there is a difference in MPH reported in dash vs in GPS. I see 2-3 MPH difference on surface roads, and 4-5 MPH difference on highway. Other than that it is all about ride height, considerable change in height (Front: 35 -> 36 1/4) (Rear: 34 3/4 -> 38 1/8)

Edit: I think I left my spare out of the bed of the truck when I measured. Thinking this would account for the extra 2 inches.

I moved the spare mount rearward by using the back bolt holes for the front, and drilling new bolt holes for the rear bolts. Got me plenty of clearance away from the exhaust heat shield. I have the DC Extreme Country, 255/85s reportedly measure in at 32.8"

According to this website, they would be the same size.

IDK if I would take one guy's word for it to judge them "kinda terrible all around"... especially one who has been driving on the tires for a whopping 4 days. Take the time. Read the thread. You will find opinions on both sides of the spectrum.

My $.02, having the Coopers on my truck for a few months is as follows:
-Using GPS, I found the speedo to be off about 5% across the board. That's not too shabby.
-Handling on the road is really negligible. As mentioned above, you do feel the steering being a bit more sensitive. You don't even notice after a little while. In terms of terms of any loss in power or braking, I haven't really noticed it. Of course, I understand these are not rally cars, so I don't feel the need to push it to the limit. Then again, I don't remember testing out the off-road prowess of my WRX when I had it, either.
-Maybe the ST Maxx is a little different than the BGF, but I don't really feel much in the way of the tie nobs when rolling down the road. Maybe I hear them biting when turning sharply in a parking lot, but that is about it. There is a little more tire noise than the stocks, but is that really a surprise? I hardly think that that is a matter of size as much as tire design. If you get the BFGs in 265/75s, expect the same.

....and I don't know why guys are having an issue with the spare. My tire guys never thought it would fit, but it did. Most who have actually tried putting it up there have found that it fits, despite looking like it won't.

    Km2 or km3?
How much did you get them for and install price?

How much did you get them for?

From what I’ve read the km3 are supposed to be better than the 2 but they look so similar.
Also the 2 is a lot cheaper.

Did you get a spare as well and did it fit underneath? Sounds like some are relocating the tire holder.

I never called it terrible at all. Just giving you what I sense in the ride quality. If that means terrible to you then maybe a different tire, not the KM2. My last tire was the one that came stock with the truck. So in comparison, these tires ride shit. But you comparing KM2 mudterrains vs street tires. No way are the mud terrains going to win.

What tire are you running now? What is your use case scenario? Are you going off-road or just commuting? If you are not going off-road I wouldnt even consider a larger tire/wheel.

I got the KM2s and I was unable to fit the spare underneath the bed. Others here were able to but they have a short bed and their exhaust was chopped right after the rear axle. My truck is a long bed and exhaust is unaltered.

I actually got under the truck myself and pushed the tire up into place without using the chain\pully. Nothing I could do would make it fit. Every part of the vehicle in that area contacted the tire. The exhaust, driver side leaf shackle, the angled brackets for original tires, and no room to push it back towards the tailgate. I fought with it for a good 20 minutes.

Everyone I have talked to in the thread that got the tire to fit had a short bed and model year 2017. I have a 2018 DCLB, what model do you have?

Same for me, although all tires are listed as 255/85r16s, the actual tire size may vary. Mine are Dick Cepek Extreme Country, they list the size as 32.8". I don't see a 255/85 for the KM2, although they do list a 255/80r17 at 33.3"

Once I relocated the spare tire mount, the tire fits a bit better, although it's still up against the leaf shackle.

What did they cost you and the install?
The eBay km2 are about 180/ea

Good point on fitting the spare.
I have a 17 dclb and guess I’d have the same issue. This thread is so long to weed through to see who has a long bed....might have to make a post.

Also the even with the same size the different brands vary in size.
