Saturday is going to be EPIC.

Of course, I still need to cook on Sunday for Pitfaced BBQ's inaugural YouTube appearance ;).

Anyone interested in whiskey and (at some point next week) BBQ, ought to subscribe and follow my good friend's channel, Whiskey Crusaders.

    https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXp8d5d7SLqRresEn2AkaJQ

It's a startup channel, so it's still fairly small and they're working out the kinks, but Matt is a stand-up dude with an absolutely BONKERS collection of whiskey. He'll be featuring yours truly and Pitfaced BBQ on an upcoming episode. We tape the episode on Sunday. Whiskey influenced BBQ (injections, glazes, etc.) then paired with appropriate whiskies. We'll do a tasting of everything. Who knows how it'll turn out, but we're looking forward to giving it a go!

For desert, with seafood. Or any thing else for that matter.

Cut into spears coated with brown sugar and cinnamon.

Works great on top of scored SPAM, always goes well with pork. Or chicken.

Crushed pineapple and brown sugar topping for SPAM

When using directly touching meat like chicken you can use canned pineapple to keep it from turning to mush. The bromelain has been removed in canned pineapple.

I'll admit I may have done something wrong, but I've tried this and it was one of the most disastrous cooks I've ever done - I'm not exaggerating.

The acidity of the pineapple turns all of the meat in to mush. The pork in the pineapple had the consistency of canned dog food and the bacon on the outside disintegrated.

The concept sounds neat, but my attempt fell way short of expectations.

    My 2 cents at least.

This was at a friend's house over mesquite wood fire. It was a little strong on the smoke and would be better over a ripping hot charcoal fire or propane. But I was still pleased with it.

I’ve tried grilled watermelon and my brain kept saying WTF why is the damn watermelon hot. So while it didn’t taste bad it didn’t hit the watermelon spot.

We always grill whatever fruit we have. Whole or half apples, bananas in the peel, half pomegranates, pineapple wedges.

    Gotta try watermelon.

    Haven't tried citrus.

I think you gotta cook separately, maybe letting a little bit of the juices that come out mix with the other food, and THEN serve together.

Ok so I just saw the pic of the final product...its going to be a disaster. Just cook some pork, pull it, and serve some grilled pineapple on the side. Then everyone can make some pulled pork sanwiches with pinaple on em.
