No. I don't regret not buying a ridgeline, I'm just comparing. New Ridgeline looks awful, but you can't deny it runs pretty sweet. The previous gen is actually more masculine looking.

The new bronco won’t be true to its roots. It’ll be garbage like all the other vehicles ford has

I agree it’s an excellent vehicle but, I like a truck to look and feel like a truck. I wouldn’t have a Ranger either.

I wonder why people need to be talked into buying a product.

Don't get me wrong, I like the new sh!t too. It's just that my 413,000 '96 Tacoma is my favorite. You had the exceptions, there's lots of high-mileage Tacomas out there.

Test drive both. Extended if you can. The truck will help you make your decision. Why should you be talked out of or into any vehicle? Drive them both and make a decision. Head over to the 5G forum and read from those who traded Tacomas. why they did. Of course, here you won't get many suggestions NOT to buy another Tacoma. Research has to go beyond this forum. It's not a hard choice. Both manufacturers make good trucks.

One of the things I was pleasantly surprised is the lower hood on the Ranger allows one to see more of the ground going forward. I always felt the Tacoma's front end was too high although it looks good. I'm looking forward to both fresh designs in a few years. I would consider Tacoma again if they build a much better drivetrain. a Four cylinder motor should not spank a V6. and yet..But that little 2.3 is very strong and is tuned to 270HP with a piggyback tune dyno have shown 320HP and a crapload of torque. Both vehicles have 3 year 36 and 5 years 60K power train. The same engine can be tuned to 350 HP is one is daring enough.

They own Tacomas, why would you ask about a Ranger. Do your research, make a decision.

I passed by a new Ranger the other day and took a good look at it. It's garbage.

Here is some Ranger info from Australia where the Ranger outsells the capable Hilux. He discusses the American version...Here is some information that might help as far as the Ranger goes.
    https://www.outsideonline.com/2398608/2019-ford-ranger-full-review

"The Ranger's motor was originally developed for the Focus RS and Mustang EcoBoost and here is mildly retuned to deliver 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. Those are best-in-class numbers and are made all the more impressive by the fact that peak torque is delivered at a very low 3,000 rpm, which means that unlike the high-revving engines in the Colorado, Gladiator, and Tacoma, this one feels like it actually belongs in a truck.

It's not working hard at all. The same engine is tuned to 300HP for the Lincoln and 350 HP for the RS. The ten-speed gearbox delivers a lower first-gear ratio than all the competition also helps.

Off-road you’ll maintain vision of obstacles as your vehicle moves closer to them as the hood is much lower toward the front" (Function over form)

..Ford has a fully boxed frame that endows it with a gross vehicle weight rating of up 6600lbs
.The Tacoma’s frame is only boxed under the engine, while the rest is made in a considerably less burly C-channel configuration; the highest GVWR you can get out of a Tacoma is 5,600 pounds. Ford’s Ranger actually outsells the HiLux in Australia and is widely considered the better vehicle.
Plus the Ford uses steel bumpers front and rear rather than plastic.

and another thing in the article I found interesting Truck buyers are typically a conservative lot and are often scared off by new technology out of fear that it may prove unreliable or difficult and expensive to maintain. But you’ll also find this motor in the new Ford Explorer, which will be sold in very high volumes over the next decade or so, ensuring good parts supply, and the transmission has already proved essentially bulletproof in the also very high-volume F-150, even when stressed by the Raptor’s 450-horsepower motor. This powertrain isn’t just miles better than the competition, it’s just as proven, too.

Hi TW! Our local Ford dealer has 6 new Rangers on the lot. They are very cute but do not really look like trucks.
Don't take me wrong, I'm sure they are okay but just seem a little to stylish. If I get a chance I'll ask to test drive one and report back.

There’s lots of high mileage everything out there. A guy on a Ford forum had a entire fleet of passenger vans used as shuttles to and from airport all with over a million miles and that was with the old 5.4, my old ‘99 Superduty with the v10 easily hit 200k and is still going with new owner original motor and trans...I see you’re a Vette guy, my ‘97 didn’t see 80k without issues, but I don’t hold it against GM more just luck of the draw

Start stop nothing like extra wear , when battery does get weak after few years. and it will as they all do, then dicey at stop lights, oh and turbos after say 60 70 K better have warranty policy for extended coverage. Tacoma = nice basic v6, dependable transmission, NO start Stop crap yet, oh and starters may be built heavier and maybe gear on flex plate but hey extra when , Not if, you have to replace them . Why I bought Tacoma. I work on Canyons and Colorados, for living at dealership, have more wiring issues than I want to put up with, on my own vehicles, this being said, I owned S10 new since 2002, it was great, but,,,, Overall am happy with my 2019 SR5 4door 4x4 Taco. Does ride little more firm than GM counterparts, but like I said... Good Luck on whatever you buy.

Ecoboost has been around since 2011 and turbo failure is just about unheard of. In fact turbo failure in general in Fords trucks including the diesels is all but unheard of... not to say it doesn’t happen as you’d expect some issues to have happened with the millions of turbo equipped Ford trucks and cars for that matter. Simply put turbo failure is a myth with the Ecoboost engines...and there are millions of 100k plus Ecoboost engines on the road

Someone at work bought one, a Lariat. I think they can look kind of cool and sporty from certain angles but for the most part they still don't really stand out to me. I see a lot of really well maintained old Rangers around town, they're nice.

I agree, lot of high mileage Tacomas as well. Doubt there's many 400,000 mile + Rangers out there. Besides the high mileage isn't what impresses me the most, it's the fact that I have done very little to it over it's 23 year life.

One clutch, two starters, one alternator, three front brake jobs, two rear, one exhaust, never had any engine work or gaskets replaced, still has original antifreeze, trans and rear-end grease.

The Tacoma will offer you Quality, Durability, Reliability & Resale Value. We don't yet know how the new Ranger will fare. If it holds up like my 45,000 mile 2011 Ranger at work, it will be just kind of OK. Adequate but not awesome.

I don’t believe the current gen is of the same quality however.
