    2 quick thoughts:

#1-Hopefully the OP will come out of this whole. No doubt a lot of unnecessary worry & stress when something like this occurs.

#2- There is a lot of very harsh talk about Techs & service employees on this site. To hear people on TW a man should bubble wrap his vehicle before even driving by a dealership. There are so many good hardworking Tech's out there who probably will take better care with the vehicle then some of the shade tree mechanics on here. Accidents happen, mistakes are made. Judge someone by how they handle the mistakes.

They started the truck w the piece of wrench in the cylinder then lied about it.

How do they not know what feel in there? Spark plug, socket, extension, and wrench. There not too much to it.

True, but they ain't working in any car dealership. Dealership pay their employees as little as possible. No skilled journeyman would work for dealership wages.

No argument about this being a screwed up mess, but was mainly talking about the general gab on TW running down each & every Tech . Lotta good people in this world busting their hump every day & hate to see them grouped in with the dipshitz

There are plenty of good guys who work in dealerships. I’ve spent 10 years working with them. Some make decent money. There are a few reasons they work/stay in dealerships. One is perhaps they like working on a certain brand. While almost every dealership sells used cars, some may mostly like to work on Toyota’s per say. Another reason, especially with larger dealerships and autogroups is they have benefits or a lot better ones that you would get at a smaller/independent shop. People have families and not all places offer paid vacations, medical, 401k, etc. Another reason is training and certifications. The auto industry is becoming faster paced. Lots of new tech released by the manufactures. These guys need some training on the new stuff and get sent out to classes or do online training. It’s not much, but some education is better than nothing. Working at a dealership you have a lot more resources at your disposal when it comes to the brand your dealership sells. Lots of technical info, tech support, etc. I’ve been on the phone with engineers uncovering problems they haven’t seen, heard of, or ran across yet. That added support can be very helpful in a pinch. But then again I guess at a independent shops or something you’re dealing with stuff that’s probably not under warranty and if you can’t fix it, don’t know how, or don’t want to, you can always send the customer somewhere else.

Anyone else hate it when OPs drop out after posting a thread seeking the community’s input?

This is a dealer issue though. I just want to know how/if it's been resolved and which dealer it was if they end up shafting him (I can guess based on his location but there are several options close by and one of them is my local dealer).

I'm hoping not! Even if he said that the situation was rectified in a positive or a negative way. I'd like to low either way.

Ahh yes, tattoos and piercings automatically disqualifies anyone from being a legitimately skilled technician. GTFO!

I guess I need to rethink my career since my sleeve tattoo obviously disqualifies me from being a captain on a private jet. How come no one told me this before?

Nothing wrong with tats or sleeves. Do you have nuts and bolts falling out of your face? If you do, be careful. You sir are most likely educated in your career. Toyota techs just laugh as they are being fired for destroying your $40k vehicle. Good luck with your flights and be safe.
