Cutting brakes no but I did a handbrake...works great for tight turns when ur goin too fast. Any brake u put in just plumb it past the porportioning valve

Truck is a little long and front heavy for cutting brakes to work well.

A rip stick just to rotate would work better imo.

Do you have a writeup on the install in your build? I have been looking for info on handbrake setups.

No I dont it's pretty simple tho one line from after your porportioning valve goes to the inlet of the handbrake then the outlet ties back to your axle...that's it

Put in a two handle cutting break. Then you can lock one or both wheels. My buddy did it for snow wheeling in his taco to aid in wheel spin

So from the master go proportioning valve, line lock, then cutting/hand brake and back to the rear axle?

Rip stick meaning a hand brake? I can't do front digs (Front wheel drive only) so not sure locking the rear would let me pull the front around. Think it would just put a ton of stress on the rear 3rd and shafts no?

Link to said 2 handle? Kind of what i was thinking. Lock the inside rear tire to turn sharper since it'll drag around.

Essentially what I'm trying to do is lock the inside rear tire to help me turn tighter since the truck is so long. I know its not high speed lt stuff but figured you guys were the ones to use them if anyone on this forum lol. Thanks for the help. Keep the info coming.

Now that I see you are SAS'd, I'm not really sure a cutting brake or a hydraulic E brake (rip stik) are suitible for your application... I had assumed you were in a pre-runner...

Cutting brakes are mostly for rear engined buggies and the like to compensate for understeer.

A hydraulic E-brake is what is used in most ice racing, rally, and drift applications to lock the rear end and initiate over-steer, this can move the center of rotation within the vehicle.

Looking at your build, you might actually want to consider rear-steer if you need more low speed maneuverability.

If you are trying to replicate A-trac however...

Just posted in figuring more people in here had them then elsewhere on the forum.

I understand how they work and the benefits and that there won’t be a lot of weight over the rear but thinking with the tire grabbing and most likely hooking on a rock or something else I may benefit from the added pressure and help with tighter steering in more technical applications.

Lol still a full bodied rig. This rig and probably none of my future builds will see rear steer. It’s not that I need the extra mobility. It would just be nice sometimes to not make 5 point turns were others make 1 or 2 lol.

This was just something I was considering since I’m already running brake lines into the cab and thought it may be a worthwhile investment. I’ll do some more looking and see what the crawler people say.

Not trying to replicate a-trac. That’s why lockers were made lol

I think the style of lever you linked will be perfect for what you’re trying to do. Be cleaner than a twin stick as well unless you saw the need to be able to lock up both rears and attempt a front dig.
