They don’t move around on the drivers side on the older models either ;)

Mid 90's Ford mustang cobra was definitely a '90's high water mark for ABS. You're seeing smoke upon maximum breaking, but just puffs of smoke ;)
Come to think of it, all v8 mid 90's Ford mustang was still pretty awesome.

No issues with my 17. I ran out and bought before the 17’s disappeared when I heard that all the TSS stuff would be on the 18’s. For me, with a lifted truck that goes Offroad I wanted this way. My buddy has an 18’ and he wishes he didn’t have all the extra garbage on his truck. In the winter I hear him complain about it more when it alarms because there is to much snow on the truck blocking the sensors

We had a mid-90s Dodge. The thing was set so conservative that it would never even chirp. I will chalk that one up to bad programming. I still remember sliding through an intersection at 1 or 2 mph when the stupid ABS wouldn't cancel out to actually stop. The car was pretty fun in corners though.

I was rear ended in the Dodge, hard, by a Silverado that only had ABS in the rear. He locked 'em up good and long before tagging me.

I would agree that good ABS systems were out by the mid-90s though.

I can't remember if our Geo Metro (1.3l 5MT sedan) had ABS?

I do know that the cars after these had violent braking for a stock system. I used to enjoy getting on them when on a fun road.

The best year is obviously 2018. Won’t change your mind. It’s the best year cause it’s the year I own. Etc.

I had a 1996 cobra, eventually autocrossed in ESP class, even with the 1996 goodyear 'gatorbacks' on it, it generated lateral 0.90g but of course the rear axle was all over the place, some rear control arms and bushings helped that. Looking back on those times, what a fun car! Currently looking for a 90's notchback...

Nope just making opinionated proclamations on the internet like the OP. I actually don't think 2017 is the worst year.

That is the thing. Old cars ( 90s being old these days . . . ) had quirks and personality. Cars are so fast now that I can't get to the limit to feel the personality come out. This is part of the reason that I like the Taco.

I feel that and like to add 'for me' or some other caveat when I can.

Granted I had an early build '17 (Aug 16 build) which had all of the same problems as the 16s (and then some). It frustrated the hell out of me but after thousands of dollars in warranty work for HPFP, rear whine, warped drums, CPS, etc., etc., it's running pretty well and I think/hope I'll get a solid 250k out of it

I am the OP.......I took 3 months when deciding if I wanted a 18 or 17.....it cost me in the end. I went to every dealer in so cal multiples times test driving the 18 and 17....TSS went off a couple of times while driving the 18. Adaptive cruise control was quirky with the ever changing traffic speeds in California, mixed with the Tacoma gearing it didn’t seem practical for me...

How it cost me...I couldn’t find a 17 in the color I wanted. I ended up with a second choice....but worth the satisfaction knowing I got the year I wanted
