sticky clutch

My clutch sticks about 1-3 inches from the top when I let off of it. You guys know what type of problem I'm having? I also have trouble starting the truck sometimes. Just a clicking noise but no start. I just replaced the battery and thought that cured the problem until today I had the same problem. Not a mechanic so I need help before I spend a ton of money.

 

explain the cluthch problem a little bit better as for the starter issue sounds like your solenoid check your starter connection to see if it is clean and tight. also check your battery connection make sure they are clean and tight.

 

Thanks for the tips. THe clutch works fine but I have noticed it starts sticking when I release it. It stops a couple of inches from the top when I shift gears. Usually when it is cold. I can tap the clutch with the side of my foot and it pops all the way out. About all I can tell you. Thanks for any suggestions.

 

I had a similar issue. Mine was coming short only a half an inch to an inch though.

I pulled my clutch pedal out. I was missing one of the bushings. While i had it out i replaced the other two. I greased it up and it worked like a charm...

Thanks Tengo. A buddy adjusted the clutch for me and seemed to fix the problem. I will also check the bushings.

Glad to join the forums, and to find a dead thread to revive! My clutch is having a similar problem.

In high gears (1st and R) my clutch will not spring back up after I have released it. In 2nd, it will hesitate, and then spring back into its normal position. It also seems that the longer I keep the clutch depressed, the more likely the sticking will occur.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for the suggestions. Are these repairs fairly straight-forward? I have the service manuals, but I don't have anything besides basic hand tools and no garage to work in. Do-able?

 

Cool. I checked the fluid level, it is full. Would it be worthwhile to attempt to bleed the system before replacing anything?

 

Just FYI, some good info for noobs like myself here.

 

replaced the slave cylinder, bled system. Still not returning to engaged position after being depressed. Could it be the master cylinder? Had a friend press clutch while I looked at slave cylinder and clutch fork. Pushes fork fully a few times, then less and less, until the pedal is on the floor.

Please help!!! This is my daily driver!!!

 

i had a similar problem changed the master and slave cylinder. works well now. change out your master cylinder its your problem. make sure that when you do it that you tighten the lock nut securley to the clevis part and put a wrench on the clevis even when pined it will still turn freely. i belive a 3/4 wrench and a #12 for the lock nut. bleed the system and check freeplay should take no more then 2 hours. hopefully this helps.
