What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

New windshield wipers, adjusted ditch lights, waxed and polished headlights and windsheild. Nothing exciting but pictures are always cool

 

I wish mine would show up. I got a tracking number, but it hasn't updated as leaving him yet.

Managed to botch an easy after work job. Getting vinyl put on the roof in a couple days, so was taking off the roof racks.

I have 3 hex head bolts that I manged to strip. They have to come out to get the rack off. I've drilled into them and tried an extractor but that was futile.

Anyone have an idea how to get those out? I was going to resell this thing but now I don't care if I have to cut it to pieces. That might be the only way.

 

I need a new Hi Lift

 

You could try using a rotary tool (dremel) and cut off disc to put a slit across the tops and try to remove them with a good sized flat head screwdriver.

 

Bought a bottle of Chemical Guys Citrus Wash and washed both of my Tacomas and my wife’s 4 Runner. I’m impressed and I’m worn out!

 

That's a good idea. If that didn't work I could cut the head up enough so I could just pull the rack right off the old bolt. Thanks, I will try this.

 

If you're going to go that route it would be easier to just drill the head off but I would try the slit first as you may be able to remove the entire screw.

Bought mine a little something nice.

 

I got it used as a gift and it needed to be rebuilt. I rebuilt it and it jacks up but not down. I need to try it with weight on it

 

Noticed this on my truck two weeks ago...
Thankfully my uncle has painted his fare share of vehicles in his time and was able to paint it for me...
Not the best picture with the sun out but you get the point... (also took off our road trip stickers on the windshield)

Got it all installed by myself today! Also installed this gift from the gf... hilift and RCI mounts

Try with weight on it. It needs x amount of lbs to work properly (I can’t remember the amount)

 

Did a few odds and ends to the truck today. Added some L track, finished up the hi lift mounts, and mounted the HD tech deck.

I was impartial to my other mounts, but everyone seemed to love them. So I offered up my mounts in exchange for the HD tech deck, straight trade (no cost to me). Got taken up on that offer within minutes.

 

Well, I got antsy, the wife was at her mom's and was able to squeeze it in before the downpour that wasn't supposed to happen today happened:



Went in like butter. Lathered the 'X' brackets with anti-seize, grade 8 hardware with anti-seize and torqued down using

Not 100% complete yet, but it's 98% there.

 

Took some bed liner spray to the frame...northeast salt will kill the frames of Toyotas...

 

Thank you, this worked great. I was able to unscrew one and the other two I mutilated until the heads broke off. Sometimes I need a push in the right direction. I use my dremel so infrequently I forgot I had one.

Same. It's definitely a quality of life improvement in my taco.
