after purchasing my new 2019 trd or I need to install my trailer brake controller. It’s a tekonsha for size reference. Looked through the 6,500 page third gen mod link until page 6200 or so and didn’t see anyone with anything.

Anyway anyone have a good idea for mounting it in a good spot that can be convenient and professional looking as if it were meant to be there all along from factory? Thanks for your time!

I got the pocket style mount for the Tekonsha p2, it can mount nice and flush under the dash unlike the p3 mount which sticks down further. Some people also sell 3d printed mount kits for the cubby also. I use the cubby for my sunglasses so I didn't want to mount mine there.

I say exact same thing. Didn’t know about any truck with it integrated in but definitely should be with all trucks and a towing package.

I believe you did a great job with it without a doubt but I’ve always saw the break controllers that are as bulky as the tekonsha p3, same as mine, to be too bulky and not blend in well. Plus with the controller mounted that way how do you access the manual braking lever? I use that often.

Edit, I do see the lever is exposed but just curious if it rubs when applying the brake manually.

It is still easily accessible from the bottom side. The controller is a very snug fit and wont be going anywhere. The controller does stick out a little, but between form, function, and cost, this seemed to be the best solution for me. There are no doubt other options, so do some research and see what works best for you, If you go with the P3, order a 3031-P harness as well and you'll be good to go with a plug and play solution. I'll try to get some shots of the brake over-ride for you.

That does actually look good. Tough decision now. Go with what I already have and that works and spend a tiny amount for a harness or spend 200 for something more minimalistic in looks for a cleaner and neater install. Since I don’t need to tow anything any time soon that I know of, will sleep on it several nights :). Thanks for all the time you spent explaining and showing the installed views.

Installed a Hopkins Insight flexmount controller with the display on the top of the steering column and pinch controller under the wipers stalk with double sided tape. Easy and natural to reach for.IMG_2311.jpg

I got a p2 and it fits perfect in the cubby just like the photos. Just drill a hole to run the wires. It is free.. No need to buy shit. It ain't in the way and it is easy to use. When I had it in another taco by the hood release, it was a bitch to see, adjust and use.

I went with the easy option and put the Tekonsha P3 next to the hood release. With this location there are a few issues. It's difficult to see the display while driving. Reaching down to activate the manual brake control puts your head right next to the airbag - not good in an emergency situation where you want to see the road and stay conscious. It's also easy to kick getting in and out. I can see breaking the mounting bracket at some point by accident.
