Front bumper cover is ~$180, the damaged bumper absorber is ~$52. Plus paint and some fasteners. Where are you guys getting $2K from?

Well that sucks. I'd definately try to score a sweet aftermarket front bumper with the insurance check, you mentioned tech package, but I see a chrome bumper meaning you do not have the tech package, tech package is blind spot monitoring and cross traffic alert / rear radar, lane departure and adaptive cruise are TSS. Good luck, sorry about your taco!

Go to body shop, strike a deal with them. have them order a $625 c4 front low pro bumper instead of OEM and call it a day.

You are talking about so little damage, and maybe don’t realize how many people have done worse on the trail without involvement of another vehicle.
I drove through a barely deep puddle and pulled that plastic out of the main bumper, looked 85% same to yours. Not bragging or encouraging just simply saying.

Selling a Truck on account of a “mall bump” just sounds silly, and a lot of lost money on your end. Up in Canada unless the accident is over $2000 it doesn’t have to be declared when selling vehicle. This damage is well under that. You could even find parts in buy sell forum for dirt cheap under $500 and already painted in quicksand.

If you do sell this truck who’s to say in 3 days / weeks months this doesn’t happen again? Armour up bud.

Mine fell off going through a rain puddle. Ended up going with the SSO Slimeline and could not be happier!

Bumper is cracked in the one area. Taking all of that off and then you know they are going to charge for recalibration of the tss nose sensor.

The bumper cover and bumper absorber are damaged. Taking off a piece of plastic like that is a bunch of fasteners. TSS recalibration is like $80. I still don't get where 2K comes from.

Edit - Here is a breakdown of all the part costs from a random dealer:

    https://parts.olathetoyota.com/auto...ine/body-cat/bumper-and-components-front-scat

Edit Never mind that, here's what you need. $615 painted:

I’d opt to put a real bumper on it. You’d cut all that off anyway. Or post for someone to trade you their stock bumper who plans to chop anyway...

I really don't care about resale value. I don't plan on ever selling mine. Hell when its paid off I just might buy another one. It's all ways good to have a spare.

    Thank you for the compliments....
I found this on a pic of a SEMA truck and tracked down the fabricator who turned out to be Insain fabrication out Colorado.
Called and talked to them and asked if he would make it out of aluminum.
He built it and shipped it to me. I then took it my local auto body shop and they took my fuel door off the truck and sent it to their powder coat supplier who sent me three samples and I chose the one that was almost an exact match.
Once installed I was extremely happy with the results.

Not a body professional, but it all looks repairable? They sell adhesives & crack fillers for the poly bumpers? Fill, seal, paint & replace impact strip?

A good body guy will repair it right without getting you hosed into replacing major assemblies.

    It's complicated.
Awesomeness. I'd been scouring the other truck forums for a manufacturer with the initials "I.F." --and found zero.
    Thank you!

Alright just to catch everyone up. I wont be paying a dime for this. I was driving in a blizzard and stopped at a red light when some cool slid out of a crossing left turn and bashed the front end. I know I too have seen scarier puddles... repair orders, and diminished value are two entirely different values which I lost during the wretched incident on my first new car. Now that that's cleared!... My first repair order value was given back to me at 1750.00 or so and I decided to get a 2nd opinion at the auto body connected too a toyota dealer. They returned with now holds back a repair order for $2400.00 this is all plastics paint and sensors. No subframe frame or whatever. I do also have TSS. It was an addition. What I am attempting to prove is diminished value
The cost I lose due to the new value of the truck. Also this truck may be up for sale soon I'm still undecided. A) it shifts like an inflated balloon is under my clutch pedal and I absolutely despise it.
    B) I had a 98 4runner that was a godsend wrecked it into a rock wall numerous times and it drove straight away everytime. Is this capable of taking that same punishment
    C) Power, if ov tune and throttle wire booster all do some cool stuff for this truck to create a more responsive off road performance machine I'd be able to live without the rest, tho currently I put a small trailer on the back and almost failed to make it up a small hill in 3rd rpms high and then desended. there! It is all out on the table let's roll with the punches

The extent of an insurance company's liability to its own policy holder is dictated by the contract between the two parties (the policy). And most companies contractually exclude coverage for diminished value and provide payment only for either the cost of repair or fair market value of the insured property. There are exceptions, especially in the world of antiques, collectibles, and rarities, where they cover loss in value beyond repair costs but those are the extreme exception and not the rule.

When another person causes you harm or damage, you don't usually have a contract with them that limits their liability and the extent of their liability is ALL DAMAGE proximately caused by their conduct, including but not limited to diminished value.
