Update: This group buy is closed...

Cams will be machined and will ship the first week of August. I will relay additional info as I receive it.

    Hello Everyone,

Over the past few days I've been trading Emails with Kiel at Kelford cams. Kiel (pronounced "Kyle") has provided me with a spec card for their supercharged 1GR specific grind as well as answered a few questions.

YES. These cams ARE for our non-roller rocker “early” 1GRFE. They’ll fit:
    2005-2015 Tacoma.
    2007-2009 FJ Cruiser
    2003-2009 4Runner V6
    2005-2010 Tundra V6

This is a set of four cams. Intakes and Exhaust.

The intake cams DO still utilize the VVT.

These cams are made from NEW castings. They are not re-grinds. This will make setting the clearances a piece of cake.

These cams DO require upgraded valve springs (which Kelford also sells)

You are NOT locked in to this specific grind. Each set of cams will have it's own spec card. So, Whatever grind you want can be ordered.

Here's the card for the SC grind:

    1B9F215F-BE92-4537-A6D5-E7D0D8676638.jpg

    So, the nitty gritty:

Here's what I was originally quoted for a single setup.

    $1200 USD for the cams
    $500 for the springs
    $110 for shipping

    ———————————————————————
    Group buy prices \/ \/ \/

    Cams $960
    Springs $400
Shipping is still $110 per set. (Other countries may be different for shipping costs.)

So, $1470 for cams and springs shipped.

    Ordering instructions:

    Email to: Kiel@kelfordcams.com

Subject line: “Tacomaworld Kelford Cams 110234 GB (your user name)”

The subject line is important. Please enter your user name between the parentheses obviously. This will help Kiel keep track of everything on his end.

Say Hi and let him know you're wanting to buy cams.

Give him a brief rundown of the relevant mods to your engine (supercharged/turbo/N/A, etc...)

I also elaborated with mentioning headers with free flowing exhaust and intake. He confirmed that their SC grind is what I want. If you need something different, He'll make a suggestion.

    Say thanks.

Remember that he's in New Zealand. So, you likely will not hear back from him on the same day.

I like where this is going. They have 1GR's over there. In their Hilux model. They don't have the OEM specs on hand, or are they going the "custom route" from the first step only?

I ordered my cams from them. I know they have the blank specs at least.

Make sure whatever the specs are on the intake, that they retain functionality with the variable cam gear.

Those would be unnecessary with a set of cams.

Curious what kind of performance benefits we can expect from these cams, I am interested but don’t put me down just yet.

Just do it? Realistically somewhere just above 400 I believe. but @Athlaos is running a ton of boost. I wonder how much it makes

That is a boost related figure though. As the base engine's volumetric efficiency is increased, then it's base HP goes up. Which raises that figure above, some.

I really want to do this, but I am curious what the modifications to the can will provide. Also how easy/difficult will it be to install these? I don’t have the fear of missing out on many mods, but this is one of them for sure.

Also in the OP it says its forcthe early 1grfe, I am assuming that covers 05-15 tacoma 1GR’s or was there a change in 09+ or 12+? I know those years toyota made some changes to the trucks but I thought the motors are basically the same. Just want to be 100% sure
