Just PM'd JustDSM about getting the current version of his tune for me. I'm so happy with what I'm running, I don't know if I want to switch! nd4spd sent me his tranny tune, but I'm so happy with what's going on, I haven't flashed it. Mechanical performance mods (y-pipe, exhaust, etc) have even taken a backseat to other stuff. (the true mid-travel suspension quest, etc).

I'm in Oregon for the summer and enjoying driving the tuned truck at 1000ft of elevation instead of 9000ft. We moved up here with at least 1000 pounds of tools, gear, camping stuff, and bikes. Truck averaged 18-19 over the 1500 miles. I did the same trip last year with less gear and was lucky to get 14-15 and that was before I installed sliders and a bumper. Stoked to see what Justin has cooking up but I am still a very happy camper.

I wish all of those people in the past who kept saying that you cannot have improved gas mileage and better hp at the same time, were all in here to eat their words. Lol

Only love to you buddy! Sorry for slacking! The wi-fi sucks up here too and the brick factor is puckering. Will have to go somewhere and poach some public (but reliable) internets. Right now I'm running data on my phone.

I definitely get better mileage with my OVTune. My Tacoma feels livelier too.

That's the only thing bothering me about this flashing right now. You always need internet. It makes it a huge inconvenience if you need to do a quick flash. Especially in my area where you are surrounded by hills, reception is questionable sometimes so I have to get really close to the buildings to use the Wi-Fi instead.

FYI the ONLY thing you need internet for is for the VCM Editor to check the licensing on your MPVI2 to your truck. Thats it, once it does that check it does not need any internet to do the flash, if it can not check licensing for some reason, it wont even attempt the flash AFAIK.

What, really? And technically speaking if you don't turn your laptop off then you don't need to check licensing all the time, at least from what I've noticed. This is great news to know!

It checks licencing every time you 1 launch the program (and also checks the MPVI2 is plugged in), and 2 every time you flash.

Yeah same. Its still annoying and i wish the ecu itself held the licensing

But I understand the hesitancy if you are out in a remote location simply due to the possibility of bricking your truck and being stranded.

ALWAYS make sure your laptop is fully charged before flashing, windows updates are paused (so the computer doesnt want to restart at an awkward time), power settings are set to where the laptop stays on and screen stays on (nothing goes to sleep). On the truck, Lights / Stereo (including no phone connected via bluetooth) / HVAC OFF, and on my TRD OR 4x4 with the electric boosted master, i like to turn the key on, let the master cylinder build pressure, then depress the brake pedal a few times to make it rebuild pressure right before the starting of the flash process, that away there is no abrupt power draw mid flash.

I have noticed with newer versions of the VCM Editor, it seems like the write / verify process that was two different parts previously, now seems like its all one. It used to write all the way through, then verify all the way through, but now its one big process where im assuming it writes one block, then verifies that one block.

@HPTuners can you verify that last statement?

Correct, it will speed up the process if everyone is using the same PIDs and I don’t have to constantly modify my Scanner config for each vehicle.

With the newest PID’s released by HPT it’s easy for everyone to just collect the same data.

**There has been a case where these newly released PIDs report odd or erroneous values. Please load the channels file and look for any errors and reports those to @HPTuners via a support ticket.

    support.hptuners.com

If your unsure, send me a short log and I’ll verify the PIDs are properly reporting.**

    Thanks guys!
