Here’s an install video in an 06 shortbed, looks like he left the bed track rails in place

I have a hard cover so I didn’t Velcro mine in, makes it easy to take it out to clean underneath

I would go with the hitch or a shackle personally, but anything that won't bend or break with you ass hanging will suffice. I didn't have a tree or anything once and used the truck. I will always suggest scaffolding even with set-up and tear down. It is just easier to work off of and move about most of the time.

Does anyone have a Dakar leaf to convert it to HD before I order one? Also, what else would I want to get for this conversion? I'm considering new bushings (20K on them), Dakar anti squeak pads, center bolt, U-bolts? I am ignorant so any real advice is most definitely appreciated.

I was told not to worry about that. The part that seals is down under the screw head and should do its thing for quite a long time. We've had a corrugated steel roof since 1988. Had it "tuned up" a couple of years ago including replacement of those screws. A standing seam roof might not need a "tune up", ever.

Our springhouse had cedar shakes. When I took them off the were mostly dirt. Only a few were even remotely intact. I'd never, ever do a cedar shingle roof after seeing that. I used to think they were long lasting; no more.

Too much shade and moss up on that hill? I wouldn't trust wood worth a darn either though, unless they dipped it in metal. (though the physics of that would not work, I know, nobody be a stickler... instant combustion, etc.)

    I know right.

Could have been. The springhouse is pretty much in shade all day, and as for moisture, well, it's a SPRINGHOUSE. There was a lot of moss on them too. So maybe cedar is great so long as it gets a lot of sun?

It's 800 sq. ft. exactly. Township says so. 23'4" by Iforget'Idunno".

It's super easy, I just did it a month or so ago. You will need a center pin, and probably should get new u-bolts if they've been on for a while. Everyone really recommends never re-using u-bolts but I've never had a problem. Everything else is up to you.

All you need other than that is 2 c-clamps. Just pull them off the truck, replace the bushings, clamp pack, cut or remove center pin, put new leaf in place and reassemble.

Also standing seam is the way to go but it will look like dogshit if your sheathing is anywhere near not perfect.

That's good to know... considering I just re-did my OE leafsprings job with my original U-bolts. Were a pisser to remove with all the rust and corrosion. Torch almost didn't work they were so bad.

Are you implying a home job of standing seam is gonna look like turd? :poking:

Not everything. Comes in handy sometimes. I needed a new roof on my house a couple years ago. Was gonna hire someone. Was talking to a buddy who loves construction stuff. He said get the shingles and we will do it.Made a call to a buddy with a dump trailer, he came over Friday after work we ripped the old roof off Friday night. He took trailer to the dump got rid of old stuff. Had 4 other friends come over Saturday morning. Laid the last few shingles by drop light. Its good to have friends. I think I touch about 20 shingles that day.

Actually what I'm implying is that every single imperfection in your roof will reflect through the final material. It doesn't hide anything. So if you have wavy sheeting, bowing rafters, etc, it will be extremely visible on the final product.

Yeah... the guy that came to estimate today said that if I wanted standing seam he'd advise we rip off all tiles and get a full out layer of plywood up over top of the existing boards (this roof itself is like 70 years old on the dormers and maybe up to 160yrs on the other portion). That way the metal wouldn't have as much bulges and sags over time. If I do corrugated I can go straight over the existing shingles.
