I've rented a truck from uhaul before. It's not cheap lol. Flat rate sure, but you pay for milage.
Just rent a trailer for $25 (unlimited miles), and let him drive your truck to tow it. That way you can stress you don't want your bed scraped up somehow by anyone but you, and you save your friend money vs renting a truck.
Using trailers is easier loading and unloading anyway (plus waaay more payload).

Literally everyone wins, no idea why only a couple of us are recommending this out of like 7 pages lol.

    Of course I'd say No.

He should go and test drive a used truck from a dealer for the weekend.

Do you know someone with a beater trailer that you can help him pull to the dump? I always borrow my friends trailer for that purpose and he uses it for the same.

I get many of these posts, and after spending the last two days using my Tacoma to help, move a giant outdoor playset for a work friend and empty a deceased friend's uncle's apartment, you need to consider how covered you are if you just lend it out.

    1. Your insurance may not cover the vehicle and other driver without you driving, leaving you directly responsible.
    And
    2. What is this friend's driving record like, and this again could leave you responsible.
    3. Do not knock the OP for being busy and unable to help.

I've seen friendships end over stuff like this.

Friend makes a poor life decision trading in a Tacoma for a Subaru, then mooches off other friends to cover his poor decision. Especially when he makes twice the income of his friends.

Probably not a friend someone would want.

I heard that one so much when I was growing up. We were dirt poor when I was kid so I never had a new anything. I remember one X-Mas I had the biggest present under the tree and I was stoked for weeks - it ended up being a blanket :( That was fuck'd up!!!

Now as an adult I appreciate a good blanket. If I saw a big ass box, I’d be like “woooo Lordy that better be a baller ass wool blanket”

4Runner Trail wheels and Toyo Open Country ATII tires 265-70-17. Cosmetic stuff like Pro grille and OffRoad black bumper trim, vinyl delete on side, added hood graphic, OEM tube steps.
In this case I would do it given the closeness of the relationship. But I would impress upon them that the truck is pristine and you expect it returned that way. You don't want it fixed. You want it undamaged. I'm sure they'll understand. They might even decline due to the uncertainty and the conflict something out of their control might create.

As an 8 year old boy I agree. I would be accidentally breaking some windows that afternoon.
