It's a neat idea to have your rack be able to raise up and down like that, but no way in hell I would spend that kind of money on it.

Have you looked into some that would work with your Plasma. Solidworks is a decent one and there are some free knockoff versions of autocad and solid works floating around that you could play with.

Step it up a notch and go for CREO. A single cad license that expensive? (I honestly don’t know we do Flex at work and I don’t see the bill!)

Fusion360 is one of the best ones. It was former Solidworks people that quit and started their own company with a far cheaper program.

I haven't had the opportunity to use that one. My CAD work is all done for Architecture. I've dabled with it for other things but am not very good at it especially the 3d. I also use more proprietary programs for that field like ReVit. Solidworks has their version and some for mechanical engineering (haven't messed with that one).

We have a variety of packages for our engineers. AutoCAd, Solidworks, Pipe-Flo, et al.

Yeah there are a ton out there. Then they can also change them up some and make stuff proprietary for companies and for different industries so that there isn't a lot of fluff that isn't needed.

Fun fact the One World Trade Center was designed completely on ReVit (which is a autodesk program). That program is an extremely powerful Architecture design suite. There is more to that program than I will ever master or even touch.

Software for engineering has really taken leaps and bounds from the days when you did everything on a drafting table and it took months and even years to plan big projects.

I learned that way. For stuff I want to make I have an easier time doing it that way than on computer and 3d modeling it. But it really has especially since programs are coming out for specific industries that aren't just basics of everything so it streamlines the program and makes it easier. It's kinda crazy how many programs are out there for specific industries. I mean I can think of at least 10 different programs for different industries within the architecture field.
