The likely hood of getting your truck stolen in Doylestown is very, very low.

I regularly park my rag top jeep with key in the ignition in town.

    my 2 cents

Road trip this weekend! My dad bought a brand new Cub Cadet push mower about three years ago, but now he pays somebody to cut the grass and does not need it anymore, so this sweet mower just gathers dust in the garage. My cousin and her husband bought a new house in the Wilkes-Barre area almost a year ago, and my dad gave them the lawnmower as a housewarming present. However, the lawn wasn't installed until a couple months ago, and we've been too busy to drive it all the way up there (over an hour and a half drive). The Tacoma is the most logical vehicle choice for hauling a lawnmower. So, I'm going to leave directly from work on Saturday evening, drive up there, have dinner with cousin and her hubby, and spend the night!

I will be putting almost 200 miles on my truck in one weekend!

Based on what I see in movies, it’s just rip the wires out from under the dashboard, and find any 2 wires that you can twist together, and the truck should start. Not sure how you would turn off the vehicle though, cause the movies never go that far

You gotta spark test them twice and then start it on the third connection

I found out a while back that my truck auto has a 3.58 rear axle ratio...

My truck gets okay gas mileage and cruises comfortably at highway speeds, even with the A/C going full throttle on a 90°F+ day. However, under rapid acceleration, it tends to bog down sometimes. It always seems to accelerate slower once I hit 75 MPH (speed limit on much of the turnpike in my area is 70 MPH; most people do 85+, and doing 75-80 on the PA Turnpike in a 70 MPH zone is how I simultaneously keep up with traffic while still following the spirit of the law).

I just had the diff fluid flushed and replaced with this synthetic stuff that is supposed to last until about 160K miles (a little over 1,100 miles from 100K right now), so I am extremely hesitant to have the rear diff opened up again before then.

Would it be worth it to install 3.73s or even 4.10s? How hard is it to change a gear ratio?

pretty simple, take 3rd member out and send it to a gear shop to swap out the R&P. ECGS is the best around this area.

    Doesn't apply. OP is a 5-lugger, thus 2wd.

A few hours if you buy the fully assembled 3rd member from ECGS. If you buy just the gears and install hardware to have someone local build it, probably a day (maybe 2).

This might actually be worth it, but what gear ratio is best?

Op... You gotta play to the truck... You got a lil 4banger. They don't make much in the way of HP and hit a big aerodynamic wall around the 70mph mark. I see a 3ish mpg loss cruising at 75 vs 65

I actually had them put it on a dyno at the Truck Nationals in 2017, just for grins; Making 132hp at the rear wheels which surprised everyone including me!

When you say "play to the truck", what do you mean?

You might find it helpful to check out the tire size calculator. It lets you see the rpms with different axle ratios and tire sizes.

This is considerably cheaper if you buy a used differential. People usually regear if you're going to a larger tire size than stock. If all you're running is the stock tire size you shouldn't have much of an issue.

    3.73 or 4.10 from 3.56 isn't enough of a difference to make a difference.

You will spin some more RPM and lose fuel economy on the highway and gain a smidge of acceleration.

You're better off just selling and buying a V6 if you want passing power at 80 mph.

But I expect you already know all this .......................

I think they're optimized for flat ground no payload. Any resistance from a slight grade to a headwind causes it to labor but in that optimum zone mileage is great. Manny's have are the next step down in gear ratios so if your in flat country go up one and if it's hilly maybe up two. At 65 one step is roughly 200 rpms so 75 might be 250? Two steps up might be 500 rpm bump? Dunno, just wagging.
