3/16" over the line is fine. Not ideal, but fine.

You look like maybe half a quart over max, you should be fine. But if it bothers you that much just crawl underneath and pop the drain plug for about a second and put it right back in.

The photo is so out of focus I can't say. But as near as I can tell it looks OK to me. You might be a few oz over, but it doesn't look like enough to hurt anything.

What could too much oil do to an engine? I know that adding too much refrigerant to an air-conditioning system can be bad, and that a symptom of "overcharging" is excessive "sweating" on the compressor and copper tubing is a symptom of this in residential central A/C systems. But what could too much oil in an automotive internal combustion engine do? My truck takes 5.5 quarts, by the way...

Kind of like too much freon in a central air-conditioner or heat pump...

Well, the phrase 'too much' is pretty damn broad lol but if you're asking about too much like the OP asked about. That's not 'too much' where'd I consider doing anything about it. Looks like a quarter of a quart maybe?

    Everything but the driveshaft. B03A - 410
    I agree.

Also, are you sitting on level ground for the check?

Had the engine been running recently before the check or was that after sitting for a while where everything ran into the oil pan?

Just curious, how many quarts did you add when changing the oil?

The problem isn't more pressure. That's regulated by the oil pressure regulator.

The problem is if the level is too high, the crankshaft will be hitting the top surface of the oil. This will whip the oil up into a froth, full of air. Once this happens the oil pump won't be able to pump it and you'll lose oil pressure. You could probably be 1 quart over at least and not cause a problem. I trust that the Toyota engineers didn't design it so 1/4 quart over would ruin the engine.
