I'm thinking about getting a plug kit and 12v, plug-in air compressor to carry in my truck. What's the best brand of compressor to get? I bought a $19.95, made-in-China cheapo from Wall Mart several years ago and it shelled the 2nd time I used it.

5100's all the way around. Front set at .85. Camburg Spindles. Camburg Uniball 1.25 UCA's. Total Chaos LCA skid plates. Custom Deaver 10 pack rear leaf spring. BFG AT KO's 285/70/17, Weathertech floor liners, Wet Okoles. Midland CB/PA, Firestick.

I had this floating around my house. I keep the hose in the under seat compartment - Bought it at Kregan Auto parts for $49.00 on sale. I purchased a larger compressor for the house/garage now with a ceiling mount retractable hose. This one is tied down and locked, but can be removed quickly. I actually used it the other day/night. My son was off roading at Holy Jim's (Trabuco Canyon - South Orange County, California) and got a flat tire (305's) on his 1989 F150 4x4 (302 small block with 3" pipes and custom headers and with Dana 44's - Nice truck....at freakin' midnight. He called me after a lot of thought and depleting all his friends phone numbers. The Tacoma to the rescue. It worked perfectly - BTW, I have a 2010 DC prerunner and I really didnt get it for off road use. Maybe some light trails...but if you been to Holy Jims's...it gets sorta scetchy, especially between midnight and 3am. I was about 10 miles into the trail and I am thinking - no way, I must have made a wrong turn. As I was turning around to leave, I see headlights. About 15 minutes later it was another truck. The guy said I was about half way there to where they broke down. Did I mention I brought a 13/16 socket and not the thin wall 13/16. So I did Holy Jim twice in one night in my 2010 DC Super White Tacoma. Yes, she is no longer a virgin.

I've got a Slime heavy duty compressor. Works good for me. Gets a little warm when airing up tires, but I think almost any 12V compressor is going to.
