And gear lock will still work too yeah? It’s been a couple years but now that you say that I vaguely remember only doing one file that took care of all of it.

It's a condition in the MT vehicles. When the clutch pedal is pressed in and you let off the gas pedal, the engine hangs at the revs it was running at, for a brief time.

In the MT when you shift gears the rpm hangs up high when you take your foot off the gas. Makes the whole thing feel sloppy and disconnected.

It’s on manuals. Late model manual vehicles don’t let the revs drop as fast when u clutch-in in between shifts due to some emission standard. It makes driving a manual annoying

Edit: and seriously a key reason why I’m not selling my 20 yr old 5 spd Jeep. They don’t make em like they used to!

Hahaha. Nevermind. Looks like I’m sticking with 1.02. My laptop only has one USB port. And it’s used by the dongle. No where for the usb cable to plug into.

It’s annoying, but sounds like the new flash should take care of it. With a short shift kit and the accumulator out of the picture it’s actually a really nice driving stick imo. It’s not a sports car by any stretch, but the gearing is perfect for a DD imo, handles everything from stop and go traffic to cruising at 80 perfectly.

Yes. You just flash the gearlock tune.

Disagree. I’ve personally seen it fix the clunk in multiple trucks.

It’s cheap and easy to rule out and more often than not I’ve seen it fix issues. People underestimate the impact it can have on this truck until they’ve seen it first hand.

I was on 1.05 and the clunk was pretty much gone. Mat had an explanation about upshift and downshift table relations. That is why he bumped 1 to 2 upshift to almost 2k or whatever speed(at least on my truck) to overcome clunky downshift
I got tired of 1.05 versions and gone back to TSB and clunk is back.

I don’t doubt that a software change can make it better or worse, but it cannot fix a physical problem if one is present. It’s a known issue on 3rd gen trucks since the beginning.

    Okay...next up. :)

I found another laptop and gave it a try.

I can identify the ecu no problem. I can read the ecu no problem.

When I try to write it’ll start with identification then fail pretty quick. With a message that says completely unsuccessfully. I tried this 3-4 times, restarting the laptop, flash manager, truck. Swapped USB ports. Nothing.

    Any ideas?

use /219 P5-CAN, ignition on and engine off, all accessories off that may sap voltage from the ECU, then write the file.

You may have already checked, but verify you are flashing the correct file as well. Some guys have made quite a few attempts before having a successful flash, for whatever reason.

I’m trying a third laptop now. Read something about you can’t use usb3.0. Dowloaded guardant drivers...blue screened my work laptop. Oops.

Edit...that guardant driver effed my laptop. Blue screens at boot now. Every time.

Okay outside of effing my work laptop over I got it. I was trying to flash the wrong file. I finally got a combo that matched my ecu and tune version to work.

Let’s see if it starts tomorrow.

    Last one from me.

I’ve read all of the ov documentation I can find as well as a couple hundred pages here.

I swear I saw some secret code to activate gear lock. Or is it just slap into a mode and you are good?

Lastly what is FOB in the tune options?
