All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!

    @BYJOSHCOOK
That's actually pretty common on ridiculous rigs built like that

Yep, I have seen it many times. The best is when they are mounted to the hood!

Wife told me today that she wouldn't stop me from getting the Sequoia. :annoyed::bananadance::broccoli::dancingbacon::cheers::benchpress::burnrubber::yes:

Now to see how much I can get the dealerships to move on their NEW 2018 stock. I mean, they've got to be motivated here 6-7 months into 2019, right?

That's crazy. I get that things could be done that are outside of what the truck was designed to do, but that kind of failure shouldn't happen. I would think that the trailer hitch receiver should deform before the frame of the truck. I always thought of Chevy as inferior quality (apologies if any of you own Chevy), but this just kind of reaffirms it. 2100lbs aint sh!t. Now if this was a 20k lbs trailer...different story. We're looking at a trailer whose entire weight could be supported by a single aluminum harbor freight jack.

GET OUT OF HERE WITH YOUR LOGIC!!!
haha yeah, is most likely much more to the story. If we wait long enough probably a video of some sort. I mean what isn't on video now a days.

edit for more info, but maybe it's just me and I don't know what trailers weigh but does that trailer seem like it should weigh 2900lbs dry?
And trailer axle looks bent, must of sent it hard!

I work for a grading contractor that has a fleet of 15-20 staff vehicles, mostly Ford.

About 3 years ago, the owner decided he was going to start trying to convert the fleet over to GM vehicles. Every single GM we bought had issues in under 30k miles. Sierra Pickup with an AC compressor blown. Sierra Pickup with a torque converter malfunciton. Sierra crew truck with an AC compressor failure and rough idle. Silverado that the entire dashboard went out (radio, instrument panel, etc.). Suburban with transmission shifting issues.

Also my wife's best friend has a GMC Acadia less than a year old that already has VSC issues causing the engine to throttle down at highway speeds while the traction control lights flash.

I thought Fords were bad, but at least they step up with recalls. GM's are just not built well at all anymore.

Yep. I believe 1999 was the last year it GMC tricks were worth anything. It was a giving that at 180k you were rebuilding the trans. The Vortex’s will last forever, and the trans is $800 max to fix.
My folks still have their Suburban. Tough as nails, and will most likely need tranny work in 30-40k lol
I took it to Macco, had the whole truck sprayed black again. So fresh and so clean..clean.

What a great time to pitch a sale!!!!

Who wants to purchase a 1999 GMC Suburban 4wd?!!
    - My family has owned since new.
    - New Triple Black paint job. Came from the factory this way, so this is actually an oem paint scheme that was on this truck.
    - Rebuilt Trans recently done.
    - Cold AC
    - 4wd Works
    - 185k on a Vortec which is diddly.
    - Super clean leather Tan Interior
    (Driver side needs bolster stitched)
    - 3rd row seat
    - can tow your Tacoma and your boat at once.

Anyone interested? I can get pics of this sled! Theirs has upgraded tires and wheels from a ‘17/‘18 model, which are not shown in this pic.

The Highlander might be worth a look if the Sequoia is too much of a gas hog. Obviously no V8 and smaller, but certainly more fuel efficient and a capable family hauler.

We had one for a few days around Christmas when my truck was getting some warranty work done, and I was shocked by the comfort and roominess (is that a word :notsure:). Keep in mind, my wife's daily and primary family ride is a Subaru Crosstrek which we find completely adequate for our current needs/uses. Granted I only have two kids and both are under 3yrs old.

I don't love the aesthitics of the Highlander, but I don't hate the newer ones. Its not a minivan so theres that, and truthfully I wouldn't categorize the Sequoia as being a good looking vehicle either. Just my $0.02

Get whatever meets your needs, wants and budget.

I appreciate the suggestion. My sister-in-law had a highlander and it was good for 2 kids, but not so good when you added in a 3rd adult or other child. At this point, we're looking at monstrosities that are single-handedly responsible for destroying the ozone. I agree that Sequoias are not the prettiest vehicles on the road. I'm honestly surprised that they are still only in their 2nd generation.

I'm relatively certain that as soon as we purchase one, they are going to introduce a new body style and utilize the same twin-turbo v6 that they are supposedly testing in the Tundra. You know, the one that gets 30 mpg and has 450 hp. Either that will happen or they will drop it from the lineup. Then I'll be sitting there rocking my 15 mpg and just ticked off at the world.
