Yes, same price after you adjusted the option configuration to make them the same price. Go here https://www.toyota.com/configurator/build/step/model/year/2019/series/tacoma and see that the OR MSRP is $3000 higher than Sport. Or go to your Toyota dealer and look at the window sticker price on a OR before any options are added and you will also see that it's $3000 higher than the sticker price of a Sport prior to any options being added.

Yep and most big rigs sit high enough off the ground you don't have to worry about ripping it off when you pull into a parking spot. I get that is has its fuel economy purposes so I give it a 2 out of 5 stars

Build a 4x2 OR then compare the price. It's starting you out in a 2 wheel drive sport vs. a 4 wheel drive OR. Compare like models, exact same price.

I already went to my Toyota dealer so I'm familiar with the fact that dcsb 4x4 Tacoma's of the sport and OR variety already have the same MSRP. Not 3k higher.

Let him go to his local Dealership and see how that goes. "Uhhhh yes I would like that OR which has upgraded shocks, wheels and tires, rear locker and let's not forget crawl control etc etc and I'd like it for the same price as that Sport over there" salesman points to the Ford dealership across the street while holding the door and holding back a laugh. Good luck

Look at a truck from Pre-2007 or older and tell me that new rigs have ground clearance.

Lol at the sport owner trying to convince everyone the sport is cheaper. The sports are very cool looking and anyone who owns one should be very happy with theirs, but there is no doubt that the OR is a ridiculously better value. Like others have said the sport should get you much more for your money, true duals, a real scoop, something.

Wow I never knew that they were the same price. I would think the OR is the way to go with all the extras over the Sport.

I just configured a Sport AC 4x4 auto and an OR AC 4x4 auto and the Sport was $800 MORE! They force you into the technology package with the Sport AC.

Toyotas website forces you into what's available nearby. You can order it without the tech package, if you order.

Tbh the website is utter crap. It's always changing what's available for you to select. Here's the thing, since you can't order from the site anyways, just have ALL of the options and colors available and put a little disclaimer saying "subject to availability/dealer stock"

Those are the mysteries of Toyota.

I wanted a TRDOR in Quicksand with Premium and Tech Packages, but Toyota doesn’t offer that combination. If I wanted leather, sunroof, JBL and dual climate control I couldn’t get Quicksand. If I wanted Quicksand I had to get the cloth seats and the base stereo.

    Why? Who the hell knows...

I originally was interested in a Sport in 2016. Test drove one and then I test drove a TRD OR. TRD OR was a smoother/dampened ride PLUS had all the OR features....for the SAME MSRP, same configuration.
I do little OR but lots of beach, some hanging at sisters east Texas hilly farm and a trip out west to friends in Study Butte/Terlingua TX each year, where I’m at now hanging out. Do I need 4x4....not really, but it is a convenience...and I do plan to keep my Taco for many years...make vacation trips to places I might need the option of 4x4. I do like the wide open spaces, little or no people....I live in rat race Houston with ridiculous TRAFFIC. So good to go.
I bought BOTH my TRD OR’s, 2016 that hurricane Harvey ate here in Houston TX, and then I ordered another 2017 from Dean Mahalati, Toyota Truck Master, at Toyota West in Columbus OH. Best car buying experience(s) ever!
I could not get the configuration I wanted for either of the Tacos I wanted here in Texas....both cases Dean ordered exactly what I wanted....he actually found both Tacos that were in production(Mexico) and somehow managed to get them through some allocation trades he did. Dean kicked butt including for both purchases knocked $3500 off MSRP. In 2016 NO ONE in Texas when I was looking would touch his price.
The guy on here claiming the the same configuration Sport versus TRD OR is $3K cheaper is wrong. I researched the crap out of 2016’s to the nit tick details....same config., same price, period.
For me TRD OR, much better value.
Either Sport or TRD are great vehicles, just up to what you want.
Pics, yesterday, ....Big Bend National Park, Chisos mountains, and St. Elena Canyon, dirt road.

Back in early 2017 I went to my local dealer (Charles Maund, Austin, TX) and told them i wanted the cheapest four door 4x4 MT I could get. I knew it would have to be ordered, so wasn’t worried about price match etc. After looking a few things over, he said the Sport would be cheaper than the OR. Since it had to be ordered, I didn’t think he was under pressure to sell me a Sport over an OR. I don’t recall the exact price difference but I think he quoted the OR $3000 more than the Sport. So i went with the Sport, waited four months, and never gave it a second thought.
I’m not really in the know about the minute details of shock differences, etc so I can’t speak to which is better in an off road environment. I also think (may be wrong) that the OR came with some tech package bullcrap that I care nothing about. My only complaint with the Sport is the stupid scoop. I’m 5’10” and it does hamper visibility a bit and makes a hellofa glare. Would like to swap hoods one day but that’s not really in the budget.
