200,000 Mile Club (1st Gen Tacomas)

I just ticked over 190k, getting there slowly. Not quite in the cool kids club yet.

 

On my 97! I had 275xxx on my 91, only thing that stopped her was rolling over, even after that she still ran strong. Regular maintenance will go a long way

 

Original motor?

 

Had a manual 2000 SR5 that got to 265,000. Then one snowy thanksgiving day had someone rear end me in a canyon and totaled it. Gutted.

Found a 2000 TRD with 1 owner and 100,000 miles and paid a nice premium for it, and hoping to get it to 300,000. What should be my focus points on getting it there?

 

And a little over a year later.

Grand total... almost 20k in the year I've had it.

 

My 04 I bought with 208k, and the 99 was bought with 289k. Never had a second thought about buying a Toyota with that many.

i am just hoping that i and my taco are not the only one in this club when/if i hit 200k in the next decade

Thanks all! It spent most of its life in Portland, OR, which is why the body and frame are in such good shape (no salt on the roads).

Since I bought it, I've bathed the frame and underbody in Fluid Film to further preserve it. Can't wait to hit 300k!

I am on frame #2. It was replaced last summer.

 

what happened to it, was it defective?

 

... curious if anybody in the 200k ++ club have the SR5/Limited sport bucket seats?

 

The dreaded frame rust-out. I had 10 months left on the extended 15 year warranty when I found holes in the frame.


Oh...mine is the limited, so it has the different seats.

 

regarding the seats, are yours the one's with manual lumbar adjust or the power? I have the manual lever

Has your truck been in the same area of MO since it was new? I am pretty sure that the winter climate there is very similar to where I am at in eastern NE but perhaps has more ice storms? ... I am tentatively headed down i70 from my uncle's in Sedalia on July 20th to a TW mod day in the St Louis area. have you heard or been to that? It's mostly 3rd gens but they appear to be friendly to 1st gens in need of TLC to keep on truckin

 

I have the power lumbar adjustment.

I bought my truck certified, used with around 15K miles on it. It came out of northern Arkansas. Other than that it has been in the STL area its entire life.

I haven't been to a mod day at GT's yet. Seems like I always have something going on when they have them, although wouldn't mind going just to give moral support. The last mods I had planned were done when my frame was replaced. Definitley go...they are a bunch of good and knowledgeable guys, and gen doesn't matter.

I won't be able to go to this mod day either. We are getting to go on vacation and I have to get my boat out of storage before vacation starts.

 

My daily driver currently is a 2004 Tacoma with 230K on it. Just took my stepdads 01 tundra to Wyoming and back from Georgia with 600K on it.

 

600K !!!!! I’m sure I’m not the only who who’d love to hear how many parts are original ......or just what items were replaced.

 

Here’s my 2000 TRD with 212k. I’ve used it as a daily since 2003. My truck is a tank.
