    I don't understand.
AFAIK, immobilizer means the key has a hidden chip inside that works via radiofrequency.
Which, even if the tumblers are turned with a working keyblade, will not allow startup if no correct chip is present.

Which, if Toyota did not include on the Tacoma (an immobilizer), in this day and age, in this country, on a modern model year past 2000,
would make them look like a joke as a company

What I mean is... At all of 132 whp... You ain't gonna have much acceleration past 55mph given aerodynamics

If you want more highway acceleration, drop it down a gear to get your RPMs nearer the HP peak. You don’t have to be at the peak, but getting nearer to it will only help.

No chip on base Tacos. I don't think even base 3rd gen have a chip.

I wonder how hard it is to retrofit an immobilizer
otherwise another option is installing a hidden kill-switch

    It's exactly like the movies

You would untwist the wires that you twisted

Not worth the trouble. It'll cost roughly $1000 unless you do the work yourself. On paper you'll see improvement, but in the real world you won't see $1000 worth of improvement. And fuel mileage will drop.

My truck came with an alarm system that also is a remote start that was added by a previous Owner. Not sure so far what I think of it, if I slam the tailgate I can set it off. It does offer some nice features though. The remote works at an insane distance (from the middle of walmart I can lock my truck in the parking lot), the remote start is obviously nice, and it automatically unlocks all 4 doors with one button press.
Car theft isn't a problem where I live but stealing stuff out of cars can be so it makes me feel better. It will surely immobilize if there is tampering.
I have no idea how much it cost.

As many people know, this started back in May or June 2017, when I discovered that my A/C was only blowing cold out of the driver's side. It took until September 2018 before the problem was discovered. Through the use of UV dye, it was determined that the evaporator core was leaking. The dealer charged almost $1,600 for parts and labor, and I didn't have the money at the time, so my dad paid for the repairs. My local Toyota dealer (Thompson Toyota in Doylestown) adds an additional year onto the one-year warranty, so if the new parts fail before September 2020, it will be fixed for free. If the evap core breaks again after that, I will NOT be using the stealership again.

We are in the middle of a heat wave, and my A/C has been working fine for the most part, though when it is really hot it take a while to get really cold. Once it does cool down, however, I find myself having to lower the fan speed because it is so cold. I typically keep the two right vents closed when I don't have a passenger, and I open these when it gets too cold in the truck.

I was paranoid that maybe the dealership didn't put things back together properly, but I recently drove a 2012 RC 5-speed 4x4 at work (I work at a detail shop) and the A/C was performing at the same level as my truck. My supervisor has a 2010 DCSB TRD OR 4x4, and his A/C might be a tiny bit stronger than mine, but it doesn't blow any colder.

By comparison, I detailed a brand new 2019 GMC Terrain SLE a month or so ago, and that thing had the coldest and most powerful A/C I've ever experienced in recent months.

I'm thinking that this is just a fact of life when it comes to Tacomas...

Just a shame that all that crap has to be taken off to reach the evaporator core.

Yea, love my RC. Hoping it lasts quite a while. The thought of upgrading to a 3rd gen sickens me.
