Go BIG or go HOME right?!

Yep, wasn't worth $45 to me to replace them. I thought about removing all the rust (manually, chemically or both) and then coating with clear but wasn't sure how well it would hold up. Luckily I don't use them all that often and when I do, the tie down straps I use have the coated hooks on them so it would probably be fine.

Clipped a bit off of one of my passenger leaf springs. Squeaking kept coming from only the area near the passenger shackle. I usually just throw a piece of teflon in there every three weeks or so, as they always slip out. But then I saw shiny metal where they had been rubbing. Stupid leaf was a tad too long. IMG_20190627_194637176.jpg
Clipped that off, cleaned it with brake cleaner, and hit the pad with some graphite dry lube. Total silence. No need for teflon anymore!

Add this to the long list of why you should never ever buy cheap leaf springs!!!

I just replaced those screws with stainless metric bolts and washers, those screws were a nightmare to get out, I guess not having the locking thing on the head they'll be fine coming out next time around.

I don't think it would effect that much. I'd bet they are a similar length as the wheel wheels that take up space in the bed. So for instance your bed slide fits between the wheel wells so I'd bet that it fits between the braces

Just use some bedliner paint. It should hold up to most uses, especially with a real thick coating

yesterday, picked up newly powdercoated OEM alloys I salvaged months ago from ID
will get some pics when available, they came out best as they could, but lost some texture unfortunately, but the Toyota markings look super sharp!

now i must figure out how to get the plastic center caps to match or blend

perhaps one of the custom fabricators on TW, like the guy that makes the battery holddowns or the skid plates can make some rope hooks that are corrosion resistant and have a big group buy???

i like the sound of that idea if these rope hooks are not what i thought they were

i was told a #4 philips is best to use, impact driver even better
tried a #3 on one and it moved but slightly stripped so stopped the process

what are these rope hooks made out of? I was thinking they are some alloy that is corrosion resistant? my hooks have been sorta 'hidden' behind my plastic dropin liner that I recently removed in prep for LineX next month
I was wanting to remove the hooks and not get liner sprayed on and then put back into place, it would also make my bed appearance extra xtra sharp looking i think

i need to make separate topic thread on this pending procedure so it doesn't get buried as easily

my local indie ToyoTech quoted me $14 each, and they claim to not mark up prices, not sure where they source from, the dealer here would probably want $20 each goodgrief

Just take the belt off and turn the pump with an air ratchet. That's what I did, worked great, easy to control.

your air filter requires IMMEDIATE attention!

i have never had mine aligned, only checked once this past January and they checked out 0K after nearly 22 years at the time

do you run 40psi in your tires all the time?

Hello guys thought i'd share one of best mods i've done for the "BROWN TROUT". Seat covers are great for keeping your og seats from disrepair but having the luxury of storage makes for such a plus. Found these coverking tactical seat covers that fit fairly well considering that they're are a cover and have taken many stains and jumping in and out for the past year and are holding up fantastic. Worrying about seats better hotter or slipping from material while off camber has not been an issue while out on the trail. ebay has random prices so if you search coverking tactical you'll see several prices found mine for under 250$ on the their website price is 280$. Here's a few pics showing the capabilities drivers side carries medical kit, gloves, camel pack, TQ kit, misc pouches...........passenger side carries hand gun holster, mag clip holder, tire patch kit, speed deflator, flash light, misc pounch. Just saying that these are super customizable and one of the best mods I've done.

I'm going to do this project next week, as I'm using my truck to haul some stuff this weekend. I've ordered the stainless steel hex bolts from Home Depot. I'm not sure how this galvanized hook got rusty in the dry weather here.
