Maybe? I know it used to be a chain, so I'm sure they had some across the state.

Premium gas is ~20% more here. So it's more than a few bucks. At current prices that is just about $10 a tank. If I fill-up once a week that's approximately $500 a year.
I use regular gas (87 octane) like the manual recommends. Never a problem.

Ah. I thought you moved from PA to Lynnwood in the 2000s, didn't expect someone else on TW to remember the old Eagle. We considered woodinville because we really love the area and all the local wineries/breweries but traffic is hell getting in and out of woodinville. Plus any house similar to what we had in Renton was like 800k. Ended up moving to Maple Valley for the school district and live next to the lake without spending a million lol.

Let's face it California Gas sucks. When I go to Idaho to see grandkids. Start with enough gas to get into Nevada then fill up. Then I do notice a difference in performance even using 87 Octane. Also try to use gas with out Ethanol. I have done no accurate measurements, just seat of pants and watching fuel gauge and an miles driven. Coming back to California I alway fill up before hitting border. Doesn't matter weather it's the Taco, Venza or Wife's Mine, which always use 91 or higher. There is seat of the pants difference and Monday of gas goes up 6 cents a gallon. Forgot what excuse they used this time. We use COSTCO usually 40-50 cents a gallon cheaper well worth the $60 a years. Lines aren't to bad.

Nice! We have not used them for vacations yet. But, most of our 'vacations' are traveling to some activity for the kids. Just about done there.

We can get a bottom market house there for about what we are paying now. Taxes will oddly be a lot less. With my wife being a teacher in the girls' district, we want to keep the changes down. Once they are done, she can figure out if the commute from Duvall would be doable. Riding back that way a lot, I'd make that commute in a heartbeat.

Since I started paddling, lake front is looking more and more appealing. Like you said, not doable here though.

It is not just seat of the pants. There is a pure gas station that we hit from time to time. Expensive, but the difference is both felt just rolling away and in the MPG bump. It would be a tough decision if one was close by.

Similar situation. I commute from 680 to 580(Altamount Freeway) to 205 (Stockton) every week, and I have been commuting from 280 to 1 to 101 (petaluma) quite often now too.

I received the new OEM tune in September 2018, and I noticed a difference uphills immediately. Then I switched to 91 in February, and noticed all the weird stumbles, weird deadspots, anemic uphill performance were certainly decreased.

I definitely noticed knocks in the lower RPMS before the new tune and 91 octane, and I do not notice that anymore.

I 100% agree with your post. OVtune and the dump pipes are the next step for me.

Read all of OVtune's blog posts and then see if you still agree with this statement.

I have done detailed mileage accounting using California gas and out of state gas. In every tank I got about 10% less mileage with California gas when compared to out of California gas (Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma).

Typically I run 87 with ethanol ,but I recently put in 91 ethanol free and my mpg went from 17.8-20.5 I commute the same 70 plus miles a day. It also seemed to hold the gears better at highway speeds. I was pleasantly surprised. I’ll run another tank and see if the results hold.

I thought everybody knows this, but it has nothing to do with more energy in your fuel (your title is misleading) and everything to do with what your truck does when it detects that fuel.
It changes the timing because of the knock sensors. When it does that, you will get about, maybe, 10-15 more hp, which is why your truck pulls a bit better. However, you gotta keep running that fuel or, as you know, it loses that extra bit of power. What a normal person (15K miles a year) would pay for that "extra" power is about $375... a year. Multiply that by five years and you pay $1,875... for 10-15 hp. Good luck with that, because I did the same experiment and really couldn't tell a difference. And, you get no better mpg. If anything, you will get a bit worse mpg because your foot will be in it trying to find that additional hp lol.

OTD and paid off? That is where my number comes from. Lease, lease buyout, and full repayment.

I ran all the numbers and combinations when looking. At the time, we couldn't take on a straight up loan even on a well used 2nd Gen, but I needed reliable wheels. Leasing got us there and even with the buyout and subsequent loan, it was within $1k at the end. Considering the situation that we were in and where we will be at then end, it was worth biting the bullet.

Let's just say that kids are :spending:.
