There’s a pretty substantial difference from the stock Tacoma rotor. Those are Baer Sport Rotors, now discontinued.

Id almost want to drive someone elses truck with these before I was to do the swap. A good set of ceramic pads and a full flush and bleed did my truck wonders. Stops on a dime, super firm pedal that doesnt take much travel at all to bring the truck to a stop.

 

With the age of our trucks I'd begin to wager that more than a couple have MCs that are leaking a bit internally too. The state of the MC has a huge impact on the feel and effectiveness. I never thought I needed Tundra brakes at all

 

That’s what I had before. I had really good pads, slotted rotors, and fresh fluid for a few thousand miles.

The difference is very subtle but you notice it when you’re towing or hauling or even braking hard.

 

One of the very first conversations you had with me was asking to buy by junkyard Tundra calipers haha

 

Yeah, this mod is preached as one of the must do's on here. Frankly, I dont see the need.

 

I've done lots of things that I didn't need to do, did you see my grey truck? I had the bish apart, I chucked lots of things on just cause I was in there.

 

"Very subtle" so why does everyone get such a hard on for this mod?

 

I'm sure it's an upgrade, just not one I've felt inclined to do just cause I've always been able to brake well.

 

Its when you go bigger heavier tires that its wanted

 

I never had a problem with stopping ability, even with the stock pads. My only issue was the brake pedal felt to mushy. Fixed with ceramic pads and new fluid, now its almost too hard lol.

 

I have bigger tires, extra weight from armor, it only makes sense to use bigger brakes

 

I think it's really beneficial for a lot of people on here that are running 33" tires or bigger, with armor and skids and a bunch of other weight.

If you have a stock or mostly stock truck then I don't think there's much need for it. I do think I'd benefit from it but it's on the low end of my priority list

I've seen people do that, but I've always been curious how you appropriately size the MC to the brakes you're using.

 

I heard brake fluid breaks down and you need to vaccum it all out and replace with new.
