six more months for this weather to return!
i put this as my wallpaper whenever the summer humidty gets to be a bit much
winter of 2oo9 and my frontyard ... 'worst' snowstorm (that i am old enough to remember anyways) in my lifetime, Christmas Church services were canceled citywide and this snow on Christmas Eve did not fully melt for more than 3 months! it never got much above freezing for this to disappear quickly over those months
it became so compacted that the rabbits were able to run right over the top and eat some bush bark that was above snow level, it was very weird once it melted to see that bark eaten over 2ft above ground level
    Enjoy :)

neighbor guy's jeep parked out there...

Just part of the game, most people see cad drivers as sub human so you see allot of crazy stuff go down. I knew where every one of my banks ATMs were and would use the cash deposit feature throughout my shifts. I got really good at spotting when a fare was going to try to bolt and could slam the brakes at the right time that they’d crash into the door they just flung open.

Get crazy questions from people and give them crazier answers. Ask me about robbery attempts and I’ll tell you how fast the Mississippi River flows and on average how long it takes a body from the back of a cab in East St. Louis to get to New Orleans.

Then you had the taxi mafia mopes from Missouri - seriously - that would try to ambush you and rob you if they found you on the Missouri side pulling fares in an Illinois plated car. Had to call the FBI on some of them once for holding me hostage - two blocks from the St. Louis FBI office while unknown to me I was carrying the NYPD anti-terrorism chief and a big shot in the FDNY in my cab. They wanted to go to Sauget and thought the whole drama that these dipshits were trying to make and my blasé method of dealing with it hilarious.

You can make money driving a cab, and if you hustle you can do pretty good for yourself. Unlike the Uber and other bs services that charge you for every ride. With a cab you only pay for the daily rental, a wash and vacuum, and fuel. Everything else is straight to your pocket unless you use their credit card service.

Kinda. Not like a suburb of a big town or anything. Live on 4 acres so we got some space.....

Naw, but that show was awesome. You just deal with five primary people. Those that travel allot for business and want to go to one of two destinations. Airport, or hotel. Folks trying to get to the game or event in the city, drunks trying to get to the strip clubs, strippers, hand jobbers, and “massage experts” trying to get there before the drunks with full pockets arrive, people with a pocket full of crap luck trying to make ends meet - allot of single moms - that have no other safe resource to use, always traveling with a toddler or younger. They always wanted to go to day care or to the grocery store. Those rides I’d charge the flat minimum - $3 to get into the car, kids ride for free - because I knew they’d take the bus after dropping the kids off at daycare to work, and If they went into the market I’d ask for a water bottle and a roll of mints, give them my number so they could call, or have someone at the store call me directly and I’d come grab them and take them back home.

Anyone else you pay additional attention to because they aren’t the normal cab riders. Luckily it wasn’t me but two guys called for a cab to catch a ride to the place that they went to murder a guy, and then when they were done called again and got the same driver to take them to their hotel. Crazy.

If you run days and your company is smart they’ll jump in the Illinois state transportation pool to help carry people to medical appointments, it doesn’t pay as well as the meter but you can fill in some dead time some will try to take advantage and bring the whole mob to town but I’d never go for it. Kids and elderly were allowed an additional rider as a type of guardian but after that I’d flip the meter on for everyone else. And that would magically empty the car of the extras.
