The place I go is a little less upscale.

Use WD40 to get the chocolate stain out of the seat belt. Of course getting the WD40 stain out will probably prove problematic...

    Great job TW...

    OP makes a legitimate post.

Then the usual suspects of Forum haters, who do absolutely nothing to their own rigs, come out the wood works to spout-out the typical non-sense:
"Nothing improves an the function of OEM powertrain. "
"The engineers are perfect infallible angels."

Now the whole thread has turned into the typical daily routine of TW crap-posting, off-topic non-sense and unfunny memes/locker room banter.

Meanwhile, risk-takers like OVtune have given our power train 30+ hp and 250ftlbs of torque below 1000RPM with bolt-ons and a ECU reprogram.

The forefront of the Tacoma enthusiast community. What a utopia!

I speak for myself when I say that yes, my Tacoma and I live in a utopia. Right at the forefront. Past all the skin.

How dare you. Go outside and bolt stuff onto your Tacoma. Risk it all.

Eh, this isn’t an FI or high output engine. You’re going down a rabbit hole for minimal gains with this engine.

No one said anything that you stated. I think you just don’t like people, and are looking for a fight.

Plenty of gains can be made on any engine.

As long as you use the right methods and parts. Computer system tuning is part of it.

    Price is the limiting factor.

500 hp is possible with the v6 without turbos or adding a NOS kit. Reliability will be sacrificed.

Honest question. Do you think you could tune the 3.5L engine to 500HP with just tuning, exhaust, and fuel?

That’s what I’m getting at, and this isn’t the engine to build up like that. FI is the way to go, and even then it’s going to be costly (fuel pump, new intake / exhaust manifolds, downpipe, real tune, etc).

No, you can’t get jack shit out of engines these days with bolt on stuff, unless it be a dersle.
It would be a full tear down and build to get there. Ton of money to do it. Fueling would be part of it....OEM computer probably would be ditched for a full programmable system like MOTEC.

    True...
Formula 1 is 18:1, turning 20,000 RPM and uses 96 octane.

Ok. I misunderstood. So arguably, without tearing the engine apart, a super charger kit is likely the best way forward for most people, as long as efficiency isn’t a worry.
