What do you recommend doing if the trans cooler is overcooling? I was thinking of cutting out a plate of whatever laying around and fastening it onto the front of the cooler so cold air won’t constantly be running over it. That would be the easiest fix.

It’s been running too low for probably too long. The hottest it gets is probably 155.

Using Tru-cool 4454 mounted in grille.
    A340E

    Using ODB2 to measure temps.

This is the cooler I’ve installed on my 2012 OR. Tru-Cool 4489. I’ve bypassed the radiator cooler too, just run this cooler alone for the transmission.

Can anyone tell me if I install a second cooler inline with the OEM one will it void the warranty?

Shouldn't, unless you create a leak that leads to failure. However, much would depend upon the dealer you took the problem to.

Thanks for all the great info! Where do you recommend mounting the cooler if you see both warm and cold. Living in utah summer can max out around 105 but I do some ice climbing in Bozeman and have seen temps in the -20's. I go to Bozeman maybe 4 times in the winter, I'm thinking if I mount it infront I will just deal with some bad mileage while it heats up, thoughts?

Are you watching your transmission temps with a scan guage or Ultra guage ?
Mounting up front is the best location .

I don't have any way to watch temps yet, just got the truck. Just trying to do research on all the things I need to up grade on my new to me '15, it is supercharged if that makes a difference. I will pull a medium size (3700 pounds) trailer 3-5 times a year.

    Supercharged ?
Is this a factory tuned supercharger ?
There are modifications to the transmission that should be performed to handle the extra power .
Most members look at cleaning up the shift points for their transmission modifications
You can read about it here

Temps don't seem to exceed 200 so far, but it would be lot better if the thermostat opened at a much lower temp - say 175 vs 190+.

Have you ever noticed the temps being too low with this cooler? I do go up to the mountains and snow throughout the winter. I am thinking of pulling the tiny cooler the tow package provides and putting a 4454 in its place.

They won't be too low as the thermostat ensures temps get up to at least 190 before it opens and utilizes the cooler.

Will the OEM cooler system hoses fit directly into a Long Tru-Cool 4454 Aux Cooling unit or will I need different sizes hoses? Or different size adapters in the side of the aux cooler?

You won't be able to reuse the hoses, but the kit comes with hose.

IIRC they are the same. I got some new lines because I run them in sequence.

Wish I would have thought of this before I removed the factory cooler. I could could put it back on and do what you did. Nice clean install.
