Go with Pizza cutters. You may even improve your MPG. Mine did great on Corolla Beaches and I didn't even air down.

nice, I jus tossed some 315's on. If you are worried about MPG do not do it. 255/80/17 or the like pizza cutters are solid for mpg and perform well in many places. I debated it but went with the meatier tire. Fucking tank

You’ll probably regret 285’s. Drop in mpg, perceived power, drivability. It won’t rub with a cmc, and it’ll still do it’s job as a truck. But for a commuter vehicle it kinda sucks. I’ve had 285/75r16 stt pros and now a less aggressive 285 MT, almost 60k miles on them and I’m used to the way it drives, but going from 265 to 285 does change things quite a bit.

Running 285/65/18 BFG KO2s with no trimming or CMC. My lift is a little higher at around 2.5”, but I only have occasional rubbing at full lock. I get about 18-19 mpg on the highway still.

Fat tires suck unless you go in sand all the time. Your mileage will drop as pointed out. And people call 255s skinny but really, they aren’t. 235s are and i get WAY better performance with 235s in all situations except sand. Just wish. Could get that width in a 33” tall tire

I've been driving on St. Augustine Beach since 2001. I've seen quantities of great multitudes of cars, trucks, and a Jeep or two buried to the frame in sand...the Jeeps were stuck at Matanzas Inlet where a lot of the sand is coquina or shell sand. They blocked that off to driving now.

If you don't know what you're doing, once those tires start to spin, you anit gonna find no hard bottom at the beach.

My truck came with 245/75-16 tires, wasn't comfortable at all using them on the beach. Went to a 265/65-17.

Why would anyone air down their tires on the beach if skinny is better?
