I bought a new '19 OR with MT. I wanted an access cab, MT and sunroof. I searched every Taco dealer around and one dealer had the sunroof and MT but a crew cab, it had every option a MT OR truck could have so I bought it. I bought it last Friday with 6 miles on it and it has 1032 miles now (7 days). The last Toyota 4wd I owned was a '87 model and life happened, it got repossessed and I have been craving one ever since. I am still finding out new things everyday, it's a ongoing learning experience for me every time I drive it. I didn't want an Auto Trans because I can change a clutch in a manual and the auto's have 15-20 clutches depending on the speed not counting the parts nightmare and IMO a 4WD truck with an auto trans will not compete with a manual.

@GTMGM18 traded his 18 for a 19 and told me the new transmission mapping and quirks of the engine are gone.... said its night and day difference

Hauled a quad recovered lotsa’ deer and it was my “Hunting Unit” . Now 4000 miles from home I and traded it in for a 2019 Sport and added after market upgrades.. Could not be happier.. I expect my new rig to last another decade. Good luck on your search 3rd gen vs 3rd gen makes no sense...wait a decade or less to determine what is sound or buy or what is available.Knocking on Heaven’s Door. Life is too short, buy what you want and enjoy it!.

    1. I am happy with my TRDOR on the trail: the truck feels solid; the Bilsteins provide a comfortable ride and the rear locker works like a charm
    2. I am happy with my TRDOR around town: it drives quietly and rides smoothly, as long as I drive it like a Camry
    3. I am not happy with my TRDOR on road trips: the automatic transmission gets in the way when trying to pass, the flat seat becomes uncomfortable after 1+ hrs.
My TRDOR shines on the trail and in the snow. Bilstein shocks, a solid 4WD and a rear locker deliver the goods on up to moderate offroading.

My TRDOR does fine around town. Love the looks; it drives quietly and rides smoothly most of the time.

My TRDOR struggles on two-lane roads. Poor AT programming hinders the engine from delivering engine power when called upon

I got a 2019 Tacoma SR/SX. It's my second base model, four cylinder Toyota.
I dont mind how slow it is cause I dont drive fast anyways.

It's amazing how far vehicles have come in general as I previously had a top trim '08 Equinox and the base Taco has loads of things that didn't. What's most surprising is that my Tacoma is much easier to drive than the Equinox. I have a better idea of where the truck is and what it's doing. Strange considering the increase in size and blind spots.

It took a week to get adjusted to getting in and out of it. Encouraging me to get back on a diet for my well being. The seating position also required an adjustment, but an SR5 was out of the range of what I wanted to spend regardless so there was no sense waiting for a power seat.

I think the SX package is the best value option ever. Probably the best OEM Tacoma wheel after the pro, especially now that they painted it black. Fender flares and blacked out badges right from the showroom floor.

I like the TSS but I also dont use it all the time. My commute is short and when I'm on the highway there's usually too much traffic to make it worth turning cruise control on. I see it coming in handy for longer trips on the interstate or if you have long commutes in light traffic when you're waking up or going home tired.

Used the AC rear seats all week ferrying an army of sub contractors on and off a job site. It's a snug fit with four guys but I eventually worked out a decent seating position that still gave the guy behind me some leg room.

I plan on owning this truck until it rots out from under me and I love it so far.

    A few.
Trucks looks good. Something i did with my seat was to recline the seatback a little more than i usually would. I felt a little uncomfortable until i made that adjustment. It felt a little too far back at first but then i adjusted to it quickly.

The plastic rear bumper sucks! I want to go aluminum, but nobody has figured out how to make the bsm work. I don't want to delete it, but Im gonna destroy the plastic if I dont do something.

Do you truly pay attention when you drive and enjoy the act of driving? If so, you can skip TSS. If you like to keep your eyes on your phone, whip it into reverse cause your time is 'valuable,' and drive because you 'have' to, then TSS is probably a geat idea.

Just my opinion and the reason that I have this particular Taco. I was honest with myself. That said, we specifically got a non-EyeSight Forester. It was the right thing to do at the time. Sadly being in the car with my wife since, I would say that she could use the nanny system. She won't listen and is setting a not good example for our girls. Of course, she is Irish / German. So listening to solid advise doesn't mix.

Thanks! The terrain here is mountainous so idk really. I'll be getting on the Ferry tomorrow to start my journey to North Carolina. I'll see then what MPG numbers are.

Ride is great compared to my old Solara
Sound system (premium not JBL) sounds good to me

    Seat is not electric.
    Qi does not work.
