20190628_223254.jpg After what seemed like a life time of looking i finally found a 2004 4 door 4 wheel drive! it has 153xxx miles on it. What are some things i should replace/repair first? As well whats a great but not a break the bank strut replacement leveling kit (looking to gain about 2. or 3. inches)? Thank yall!

You said you're looking for a wont break the bank leveling kit.

Not break the bank means a lot of different things to a lot of different people.

But, I think the best setup (especially with a double cab) (without going full coilover) is Bilstein 5100 front shocks with ToyTec 620# coils in the front. I've run 3 different setups in the front and that is where I'm at now. I'm happy with it, and will continue to run it till I decide to pony up for Reservoir Coilovers.

For the back, I run a Wheelers 1.5 add a leaf and a middle leaf from a 5 lug Tacoma packaged in to my stock leaf springs.

I have nearly 300,000 miles on my stock leafs and here's how my truck sits fully loaded with camping and recovery gear.(photo from last year)

Here's how it sits (now) daily.

i have been looking at the bilstein 5100 the hardest and seem to be about the top rated for the simplicity and $ at less then 400 for the front and rear setup i think thats going to be my best bet. and i just went thru your photos with the b4 and afters. i want a plain and simple look

It was the last year of the 1st Gen.
I feel the interior on the 1st gen was better.
Plus you had a manual transfer case.
